Here is another color combination of the last card I posted. I used a different embossing plate this time too. It is hard to see but I used the Cuttle Bug Leafy Branch embossing plate. The colors are Baby Pink, Blush, Heavenly Blue and Sweet Leaf.

I made this card With Tulip, Olive and Vanilla Cream card stock. Cocoa, Tulip and Olive Ink pads and C1340 Aspirations stamp set. I also used my Cuttle bug Swirl embossing plate, piercing tool, Liquid Glass, Icicle Stickles, white organdy ribbon and scallop scissors.
I found a similar card sometime ago on Splitcoaststampers.com I wish I could give the creator credit, but I do not know who made it. Sorry.

This is another birthday card that I made this last week.
I used CTMH's X7113B Tinkerin' Level 2 Paper with C1354 Robot Power and C1353 Gear Up Stamp sets. Holiday Red and Vanilla Cream card stock. Clover Meadow, Sunflower, Grey Flannel and Grey Wool ink pads. Then I tied the green organdy ribbon to finish it off.

Update on my healing.

Dr. Freedman said everything is healing nicely and I don't need to come back in, just take it easy while I finish healing. YEAH!!! And stay out of the sun. I have a sunburn from doing the yard work over the weekend, he mentioned a brochure he has on melanoma.

I think I am going to play for a while and see if I can come up with a cute card or two.

Update on my healing.

I almost forgot, I go in tomorrow morning for my 2 week checkup. So far everything seems to be going good since I went to the ER last week with the blisters. The blisters look like blood blisters now but they seem to be healing and not getting infected. I am back to doing almost everything I had been doing before, so I feel like that is good. We'll see what the Dr. says.

In the good ole summertime.

As you can see we have been spending some time out side. The weather has been hot, but not too hot this last couple days, so we got some yard work done. I went around the fence and clipped blackberries while my Daughter mowed the lawn and ran the weed eater. My Son-in-law worked on the yard and put the finishing touches on my retaining wall that he built a couple weeks ago for me. My dear hubby finished another raised garden bed and put it in for me. Now I all I have to do is fill it with dirt and put my plants in. He also added a trellis for my Cantaloupe, Watermelon and Cucumbers to grow on, on the first raised garden bed pictured here with Mary and Hailey looking for watermelon.
I think I will use some of those tires in the background to plant some Potatoes, next year...

This is a picture of my two Granddaughters, Mary and Hailey standing on my patio next to my Yellow Pear Tomato. I don't think I have ever seen Tomatoes get so tall.

Here is Miss Mary standing next to her Giant Sunflowers.

Here is Miss Hailey with her Marigolds that she planted with me. She is just too happy to see that her Marigolds have started opening.

I didn't get any scrap booking or cards made this weekend but My yard sure does look better, and I have some new pictures that I can scrapbook later. I have 3 birthdays coming up in the next couple weeks so I better get started on the cards.

Slider Card Technique

These cool cards are easier than they look to make and are really wow! The pattern and instructions are below.

1. To make the card body, Cut your Card stock so that it is 5 ½” x 11”. Score the card stock at 3 ½”, 7”, and 10 ½” this should leave a ½” edge to adhere the card together. On the opposite end of the 1/2” fold cut a notch 1/2” deep in booth sides, Fold the card but do not glue together yet.
2. Cut a 10 ½ x 1 ¼” strip of plastic grocery bag. Wrap around notched section and adhere the ends together (strip should be snug, but be able to slide easily back and forth).
3. Cut 2 rectangles of card stock 3 ¼” X 5” and decorate them or put a gift card on one. Adhere one rectangle to the front side of the plastic strip
4. Adhere remaining rectangle to back side of the plastic strip. Use a 1” circle hole punch and cut 2 notches on the left side that you can use to pull out one of the card stock papers inside. The other card stock piece will pop out the other side!
5. Assemble the card body, adhering the 1/2” folded edge to the inside of the card.
6. Decorate card front as desired. I took a piece of Bella and attached it to the front. Then I layered 3 paper flowers that I had inked with Crème Brulee and put a large Chocolate brad in the center and adhered it to the large Daisy on the front and added some Icicle Stickles to the centers of the hollyhock flowers and added a die cut sprig behind the daisy. I stamped a saying from the Thank You stamp set on a die cut piece of White Daisy CS and 2nd generation stamped the Daisy from Endless Friendship and put it on the inside left of the card and added a hollyhock flower and some die cut sprigs and Stickles to the brad flower center. Then I added a ribbon with a spiral clip for the pull.
There are lots of great occasions for these fun sliding cards!

Update on my healing process

Everything was going good the last few days. The adhesives on one of the bandages were bothering me a little and we tried to use a Latex free bandaide. Well last evening I noticed 2 blisters where the larger bandage had been so I called the Dr. Office and asked what I should do. He told me to go see the Surgeon tomorrow, it didn't seem bad enough to go to the ER for. A couple hours later I started with the chills and then my Face felt like it was on fire. When I checked in the mirror my face was all red and blotchy looking. Took my temp and it was 100.4 so I called the Dr. again and he said ya you better go get checked out. So my daughter drives me to Milwaukie Providence hospital. Lucky me, no one was in the waiting room and they sent me into the triage room and got the paper work rolling. Now my temp is only 99 they look at the blisters and said ya looks like an allergy, and sent me to the lobby. The CNA comes to the door to call me back and stands there, like do I really have to call your name you are the only one here. I was getting up, but I am slow because of my tummy and back issue, Dawn says to me jokingly, I'm pretty sure she is here for you, you need to get up. So the CNA hears us talking and asks if I need a wheel chair and we both said no. Dawn continues, she had one of those last week when she came in for her appendix and doesn't want to do that again. (Talking about the wheel chair) The CNA says well honey she can't, we only have one apendix. So we get to Room 9 and she says what can I do to make you comfortable? Well you know me, I said" for starters you can get an extra pad and some warm blankets and extra pillows." She gives me a gown and leaves the room. The next thing I know she is walking in the room with an extra pad and blankets and pillows. So I say, I'm sorry I was just joking, you really don't have to do this. She says you can't joke with the nurses honey. So after putting the extra pad on and putting a warm blanket down she had me lie down and put 2 more warm blankets on top of me, then raised to leg part of the bed for my knees. The CNA then sits and sees my red itchy, burning face and says do you get embarrassed easy? This was the best service I have ever received from a Hospital ER before, Thank you Claire. Dawn took a picture so I could scrapbook it.

Get well card

This beautiful card is from my friend Teri, she is a SU demonstrator and I have known her for almost 10 years. She sent this to me after finding out I went to the hospital last week. She had a scheduled surgery in May so she wrote in the card and I quote, "at least I was polite enough to give notice." Well it's not my fault my appendix didn't want to hang out with me any more. Thank you Teri for the great laugh! I LOVE the card!

How to use CTMH's Vanilla Cream Dye based Ink

I just made a card using the Vanilla Cream dye based ink and thought I would share it here. I took a die cut of White daisy card stock and stamped the words Thank you for your kindness in the Vanilla Cream ink then took a sponge and added pink chalk to the words gently. The ink is just wet enough to absorb the chalk. I then took the Vanilla Cream ink pad and inked the edges of the die cut to give it a little dimension and added to the front of the card. This makes a very quick and easy cute card.

I want to start putting tips and techniques on this blog and showing some of the quick and easy ideas.

Wow!!!

It's July 12th already, I have been out for a while. I had emergency surgery last Monday, my appendix just didn't want to hang out with me any more. Go figure. At least it let me enjoy the 4th of July. I took the grandchildren to Canby to see the festivities at Waite park and to get an Ice Cream from their Grandma Denise who has an Ice Cream Trailer that she sets up at events around town. We try to go to the events so that she can see the kids and we help her income a little. Then came home and watered my plants like usual. I woke up about 5:00 am with a burning pain in my stomach and it never got better. I finally called the Dr. about 6:00 pm and he said I had to go in to Emergency. They checked me in and gave me pain meds(yeah) then took me for a CT scan and before I returned back to the room the Dr. had told my Daughter that she needed to call My hubby to let him know that I was going to have surgery. The Surgeon was currently in surgery so we had to wait till he could get to me. Finally about 12:45 am they wheeled me back and the next thing I knew it was 3:30 am and they were taking me to my room where I would finish my stay. My Hubby was there waiting for me. Well you know the routine they come in every half hour to check vitals and then finally leave you to rest after they've thoroughly woke you up.

About 10:30 am my Daughter brought my Son and all the grandkids to see me. I had just gotten a new room mate so I thought I should go for a walk and get the kids out a little. The nurses desk called me the Pied Piper because of the trail of people. The Dr. who did the Surgery was Dr. Freedman and he is Awesome. He came in and explained what he did and said that I was quite a challenge, he had never ran across an appendix that had attached it's self to the colon wall before. It caused the surgery to last 2 hrs & 45 minutes. My hubby came to visit me and brought a hugh bouquet of flowers, and ate dinner with me. He can be so sweet.
On Tuesday morning Dr. Freedman came by and said I could go home. YEAH !!!
I am back to watering my plants and doing a few thing for myself but still trying to take it easy. Wow did the garden grow while I was down. I think the pumpkin is taking over.
Thanks for checking back to see what's up here with me.

Happy 4th of July!

I hope you are all having a fantastic Fourth of July. I am spending the day with my Grandbabies, ok their not babies any more. My Daughter and Son-in-law are helping his mother run her Ice Cream trailer at the General Canby Days celebration. Who knows you might even see me at the Ice Cream trailer, trying to stay cool, and what an awesome way to celebrate the Fourth of July, right.

Wow!!! We have a heat advisory through Friday! It is currently 91 degrees in Beavercreek, OR. That's HOT!!!

I have had a lot going on this last week. Our extra fridge on the porch quit working and we had to replace it. I talked my hubby into getting a new Refrigerator for the kitchen(27 cu ft) and I got a new range in the process. It is a Maytag Gemini and has a double oven and glass top. Yes, I know I'm spoiled but we really needed these items. As most of you know I have a one butt kitchen(galley) and 9 of us live here. One of the large burners on the old range, quit working back in December and I have been cooking with it since. Not much fun. Now comes the grueling task of making the Fridge fit. We had to tear out cabinets and now we have to move the light switch, which means someone has to go up into the attic and move the wires. I think we will wait till it cools down a bit. My son-in-law is going to put some recessed lights up in the kitchen ceiling for me while he is up there moving the wiring. YEAH!!! I'll actually be able to see what I'm cooking.

I wanted to share something I made in May. Uncle Sam, I made him using the Paper Doll Dress up cricut cartridge and CTMH Paper.

Thank you for checking on my blog.
