Miss You- Cardmaking kit Dress-Up Part 3 | DT by Tarina Lafollette

Hello everyone!
I hope you're having a splended morning!

Today I'm sharing my second to last card for my Workshops Your Way, Card Dress-up mini series. Boy that's a mouth full! Lol
I'd contemplated starting a different project, but these cards  were begging to be created. So here we go!

If you've been keeping up with my posts, you'll notice I'm starting this dress-up with the second project layout in the WYW, Miss You cutting guide. What's up with that? you may be asking lol When I sat down to create these cards, I felt an immediate draw to project #2. So I decided to just go with it!
Guess what else spoke to me? The No Worries collection from Close to My Heart! Lol  Thankfully, most of the collection comes in the Workshops Your Way, Scrapbooking kit. All I added was adhesive and Bitty Sparkles.
I really wanted to show how you can use this particular cutting guide with different products all the way around. So I changed up the stampset and worked with the Compliments (embellishments), burlap ribbon & sequins that came in the kit. As for the stamping, I switched up the inks for Sapphire and Desert Sand. If you look on the branding side of the zip strip, there's a little list of colors that coordinate with the paper pack you're using. No Worries calls for Cashmere, but since I didn't have Cashmere, I used Desert Sand. It worked pretty well by bringing out the darker color in the weaved basket paper.

I just wanna shop CTMH!

I hope you are inspired to switch-up your supplies and give new life to your cutting guides.
Have a great day!

WOW!!! 8 years?

I can't believe I have been blogging for 8 years.  Happy Blog-iversary to me.
It has been a pleasure and a pain. lol

As I reflect back over the years and remember all the fun I had making cards and pages and I was so excited to share them with you.  I have been quite busy since my flood last year and I still don't have my scrap area fixed up the way I want it or even really usable yet.  Thank goodness for that giant island we put in. We use it for everything.

I just want to say THANK YOU!!! To all of you who have kept coming back to check in and see what I have been up to.  I am sorry if I have disappointed you at times with no cards or pages. I hope you will stay with me as I really do plan on getting back to making cards and layouts.

Happy Scrappin',

Janice

Miss You- Cardmaking kit Dress-Up Part 2 | DT by Tarina Lafollette

Hello All!
This is the second part to my card Dress-up mini series.
For this example, I'm giving the Miss You, WYW, cardmaking kit a little bit of a wardrobe change! lol

For both of these cards, I decided to switch up the papers to a few other papers from the Little Dreamer paper pack and switched up the inks to suit the new papers. Just in case you didn't notice, I also swapped the sentiments!  I figured 'Why Not?' lol
For Card 1 (above) I still wanted to use the Shimmer trim, but I didn't want to cover up the unicorn's nose lol so I moved it up a bit and dove-tailed the end. I also had the urge to move the bling on both cards. Aaand, of course, I added a few bitty sparkles.

Card #1 Recipe
-----

For Card 2 (below), I shortened the sentiment base piece and placed the banner below it instead of on it. I aso changed up the ink to a pink color called Pixie. I only had the color in pigment inks, but it worked great!

I love how these cards both took on a different look with such easy changes. You could also apply some of the techniques I showed in my previous post, or even do some of your favorite techniques!
Keep an eye out for my next couple posts, I'm doing a little mini series showing some of the ways you can dress up these cards while still using the Miss You cutting guide.

I hope you've found some inspiration today!
Thank you for stoppin' by!

It is that time of year again.

The VFW and Auxiliary State Convention started on the 14th.

I finally finished the scrapbook just in time for this years convention.

Yes, I said Scrapbook.  As in one  (1), singular. lol

Last year it was in 2 books and the year before it was in 3 books.

I am the historian and this is just one of my jobs.  This coming year will be different, because I was voted in as Sr. Vice President, which means I will be a little more busy, but I think I can still do the scrapbook for this coming year.

Without further delay here are some of the 68 pages in this years scrapbook.

In February and September we hold a Crop 4 Vets.
It's a small group that attends, but we have a lot of fun.  If you would like to join us, let me know 503-708-6889 or jwilson@bctonline.com
We helped get the Larry Dahl Memorial moved to a more appropriate place.
Larry Dahl's Son and Mother attended the ceremony.

The OC JROTC was invited to participate in the 50th Anniversary of Pearl Harbor event in Hawaii

Our Christmas party.
The Commander and President hand out the Scholarship awards.
February is our Post's Birthday and we celebrate.
Canby VFW Auxiliary puts on a great Iwo Jima Flag raising ceremony.

Our Patriotic Arts Winner.
If you ever get the chance to go to Bill's Place in Clackamas OR, you should go.  Bill has an amazing car collection and a great story to tell.  Bill is a member of Post 1324.

Steve took some WWII uniforms up to Pendleton for the event. The National Guard partnered with the Pendleton Air Museum to organize the Doolittle Raiders Gala, a commemoration of the 75th anniversary of the air raids on Japan during World War II led by Lt. Col. Jimmy Doolittle, and featuring 80 soldiers based in Pendleton.
The gala was a day-long affair that featured vendors, a display with World War II-era weapons and equipment, and military planes and vehicles from both World War II and modern day.
May 1st is Loyalty day! It is the day we retire the tattered flags that the community turns in to out post.  It's a huge ceremony done with honor and dignity. If you haven't been to one, you really should come.

Poppy Distribution started May 19th and ended on May 29th.  We had members at most of the grocery stores in Oregon City, Gladstone, Happy Valley and Wilsonville.
Our Honor Guard participates in the Mountain View Cemetery's ceremony and then comes to the post for lunch. We serve hamburgers and hot dogs to about 130 and have displays out from 12:00 -5:00 pm.

Here are some of the quilts we have made to go to the Portland VA Hospital in July.  If you would like to help or learn more about what we do please call me 503-708-6889.

Here is a link to join us.  https://vfwauxiliary.org/join-us/become-a-member/https://vfwauxiliary.org/join-us/become-a-member/

You can join our Auxiliary #1324 or you can join at large and find a local Auxiliary that is close to you and one you like.

Or if you are a Veteran of Foreign Wars you can join the VFW Post #1324 here. https://www.vfw.org/join

Yes, I did get a little bling in the Scrapbook too.
