Horus

I don't know if all of you are familiar with Egyptian Gods or not but we have become more familiar this last couple weeks.  Jordan chose to study Horus and so we made a costume complete with the Falcon head.  Here are some pictures.

Making the mask.

First you start by covering the face with petroleum jelly.

Then you layer plaster strips over the area you want the mask to be.

Here Dawn added the beak of the Falcon.

Charlie cut the eye holes so that Jordan could see out of the mask.

Jordan was working on his poster.

I sewed the skirt and arm & leg bands for the costume.  I dyed the t-shirt and made the crown.

Jordan's Ancient Civilization Celebration was yesterday and Mom, Grandpa, Hailey and I went to help and watch.  Here are some pictures of the celebration.

Here you can see some of the parent helpers.

Cypress one of the local Greek Restaurants in Oregon City donated most of the food and everyone loved it.  The Calamari was the first to go.

Miss Hailey had to get into the Chariot with Jordan.

Mr Salisbury & Mr Bartch both dresses up for the occasion.

We watched the kids play a game like Jeopardy where they chose a category and put the answer in question form.  You can see the board behind Mr. Salisbury.  They also played Pictionary and Hangman.

This was a lot of fun.  There were a lot of really good costumes.

Happy Scrapin',

Janice
