Clark County Women's Expo Recap.

Well I wanted to talk about how the Expo went this last weekend.  So glad so many of you came to say hello, it was great seeing all of you.

So here is what our booth looked like.  We tried to make it so people could come in and look at all the samples we had on display.  Our Make-N-Take was right in the front.
We were right between Pure Romance and Usborne Books.  Both booths were busy and so was the Damsel in Distress booth just down from Pure Romance.  They kept showing their Tasers which made a loud zapping noise and flashlights which had flashing lights and a siren on them.

Our Raffle bags,
I used For Always paper pack with Honey, Lagoon and Ruby along with Slate, Whisper and and Black cardstock.  I also used our silver glitter tape and some antique bronze durables.
On this bag I used Babycakes paper pack with Burlap ribbon to make the little lion.  Sunset, Slate and Brown glitter paper.
I used Laughing Lola paper pack and cut the Owl out from the Artbooking cricut cartridge.  I used Cocoa, Black, Olive and Bamboo cardstock.
This bag was decorated using the Huntington paper pack and coordinating stamp set. I added some Barn Red and burlap ribbon for accents.

These bags were so quick and easy to make, you should try one next time you have a birthday or shower to go to.

Here is the Spin It to Win It board that I made for this event.  There are 8 different sections, we wrote a prize in each section so you had a chance to win several different items.  On the left corner of the table you will see a card box that I covered in Laughing Lola paper to use for our entries in the raffle drawing.  I was hoping it would be big enough and with only 5 entries it was plenty big.
We met several people who used to scrapbook and now are interested in getting back into it, maybe trying out our Studio J digital scrapbooking program.  We also met a few who wants to come to our meetup group and maybe take our classes.  Speaking of which, I have decided to teach a class on my Laughing Lola Mini Album that I made last week just before the Expo.  Here is a picture.

The class is $30.00 and it will be listed on our Meetup group soon. This Mini Album is 4" x 7" X 1 3/4".  It has 13 pages, 5 fold outs, 14 magnets and 8 tags.  Here is a link to our meetup group, http://www.meetup.com/PortlandFriendsScrap/  Join our group so you can sign up for the class.  If you like the mini album but are not into Hallpween, I can change the paper pack that I use, just let me know ASAP which paper pack you wish to use and I will cut the papers using that pack for you.

Happy Scrappin',

One of Close to my Heart’s newest Consultants “Down Under” created this wonderful video showing how to easily convert Close to my Heart’s 12" x 12" Memory Protectors to Creative Memories album pages. With CM discontinuing many of their core products, I thought this might be useful information for many of you. You can purchase Close to my Heart Memory Protectors in packages of 10 or in bulk packages of 50.

Laughing Lola Mini Album

I have been wanting to make one of these for quite some time now and when I saw another CTMH Consultant Annette Green post her Graphic 45 Tag Album on Facebook the other day, I just had to make one.  So here are the pictures.

I used Laughing Lola paper, Sparkles and Pearls along with a couple Halloween Stamp sets.  Some are retired, but I think they fit perfectly with the album.  I used 2 rectangle chipboard pieces from CTMH's Tag album for the covers and made my own binding by cutting a 4" x 12" strip of Black cardstock and scoring it at 1" intervals then folded it like an accordion. I folded it in half length wise and adhered it together to make it more sturdy.  I cut several cards from the Art Philosophy cricut cartridge using the Cricut Design Studio(Similar to Cricut Craft Room), because I could make them exactly the width and length that I wanted them.  I also cut envelopes.  I then adhered the cards and tags that I cut from the Art Philosophy cartridge to the left or right side of the folded cardstock.  I cut all of the pieces out of Black cardstock.

I love how quickly this little album came together.  It was so much fun, to play with all my toys and beautiful papers.  I think Laughing Lola is my favorite paper pack out of this book, however I do like Proplayer paper pack a lot also.

I would love to know what you think about this little Mini Album.  So please leave me a comment.   If you are interested in taking a class on this book, please email me jwilson@bctonline.com or call me 503-708-6889 and I will let you know when and where the class will be held.

I will have this mini album on display at the Clark County Women's Expo Saturday, September 14th and Sunday, September 15th if you want to stop by and take a closer look.

I will also have the new Holidays From The Heart Ideabook, be one of the first 40 people to visit our booth and get one while supplies last.

Happy Scrappin',

Kumoricon 2013

My Sister and Niece brought my Great Nieces down from The Dalles, to go to Kumoricon with Jordan. They arrived on Friday and we spent the evening getting ready for the weekend.  Kumoricon is the Anime convention.

When the kids signed in to the convention, they were given a goodie bag with some booklets on the events schedule.  On the back of one of the booklets they had a scavenger hunt, it had pictures of people and their names.  They were to take pictures of these people to prove they had seen them.

Here are some pics from our adventure.

Jordan dared me to go ask someone if I could have a picture taken with them. Of course I couldn't let him down, especially when I saw Captain Jack Sparrow was in the park.  He had such a great costume.

Jordan told me who the guy in the box was, but I can not remember I just know it is from Minecraft.
Here is one of the many Aurora's that we saw.
I believe the one with the long green hair is called Ivy.
Of course Beetle Juice, don't say that 3 times, or you know what will happen. ha ha
This lady made her little Dragon, from How to train your Dragon.

Not sure who this is,
Where's Waldo was there too.
Tony Stark
This is the Happy backpack that Jordan wanted, but they were out when he found the booth, so he settled for a small plush instead.  I asked him if he wanted me to knock her down and take it for him, but he said no. sigh.

I am waiting for more pics from the girls.  Jordan found Jesus and they took a picture of them.  He told us a funny story about finding Jesus.  He had Grandpa's phone for the weekend and when he saw Jesus, he pulled the phone out to take a pic and by the time he opened the camera Jesus was out of his sight.  He said up ahead of him in the crowd he heard someone shout "I FOUND JESUS"  He said the whole crowd started laughing.

After the first day I asked Jordan if he just wanted to skip Mondays events, since he wasn't enjoying the convention.  He said well it's only till 3, so I might as well go.  That told me he was having a good time.  So on the way home Monday night, I asked him if he had a good time and he said "I had high hopes and the convention exceeded my hopes."  We will definately be going back next year.

Besides it gives me something else to scrapbook.

Happy Scrappin',

Janice

And yet another project!

I am so excited!!!  This one, I think I will get a lot of use out of.  It was pretty easy once I figured out what I wanted to do.  I was on Facebook one evening and another consultant had posted one that she had made for Convention.( I will share the link and credits at the end of this post.)
Mine is a little different as I am not using a Cast Iron Cookbook Stand to hold mine upright.

I can tell you that I started with a white 22" round pressboard cake board and an 11" tan plastic Rubbermaid Lazy Susan, some Black acrylic paint and some unsanded grout.

Do you have any idea what this is?

I made my own chalkboard paint using 1 - 2 oz bottle of Black acrylic paint and about 1/4 cup unsanded grout  Mixed it well and painted both the cake board and lazy susan. (3 Coats each)  Once the paint was dry I took a piece of chalk and conditioned the boards, by rubbing the chalk all over them and then wiping off the dust.

Now do you have an idea what it might be?

Ok, here is another hint.

I then took CTMH's silver glitter tape and put 4 strips across it in different directions making the pattern on it.  I used E6000 glue to adhere the lazy susan to the cake board, making sure to center it.  The glitter tape divides the chalkboard into sections for me to write different things in for different events.

Ok, it is starting to remind you of anything yet?

Here is what I did to finish off the project.
I took CTMH's silver glitter paper and cut a large arrow

from the Artiste Cricut cartridge on the Cricut.  And placed it in the center of the lazy susan.  I also cut out some letters. T, S, W, I, I, i, i, n, n, p, t, t and o.  I decided I wanted them to stay put, so I ran them through the Xyron 150 sticker maker with permanent adhesive in it.  I then lined them up on the lazy susan part of the board to Spell out the name of our very own,

Wait for it!

Wait for it!

"Spin It To Win It" Game board.

Ta da!

I'm always trying to come up with ways to entertain our guests at our Idea Book Kick-off parties and I think we can use this one at the Clark County Women's Expo in September too.

You should stop by and see what we put on the board for you to win.
