Artbooking 6 x 6 Mini album.

This is another mini album that Dawn created for me.  She asked me to help her add pictures and embellish it so that is all I did. I love how she out it together using the Sarita Papers.  I took these pictures late at night so they didn't turn out as good as I had hoped they would.  This little book looks way better in person.

Some of the flowers are our new Metal accents and some are rolled roses. I also added the clear accent flowers.
These flowers are from the Art Philosophy Cartridge.

The Butterfly is from the Love This Stamp set.

I now have mini album fever.

The Ancient Civilization Celebration is getting under way at School.

Zack came to me last week and said that he had chosen to be Zeus for the celebration.  He has to learn all that he can before next Friday.  During the celebration each 6th grade student gets to set up a desk which becomes their museum, where the other students come by and ask questions about them.  They divide the classes into 4 groups and each group gets a 15 turn at hosting a museum.  While the students are setting up the Museums the other students play a game similar to Jeopardy, where they pick the category and ask the question to the answer given.    This gives the Museum students time to get into their costumes and prepare for the questions.  Zack asked me to help him with his costume.  I first went on the internet and found pictures of Zues.  Zack decided he wanted to be the older Zues, grey beard and hair.  I wonder if you can curl yarn in the oven like you can ribbon?  Well, yes you can!!!  Here are some pics of the progress.
To curl the yarn, simply wind it around a 1/4" dowel, I used clothes pins to hold the ends in place, lightly spritz it with water and put it on a cookie sheet in the oven on 250 degrees for about 5-10 minutes depending on how wet they were when you put them in.  I used 16 dowels, twice to make the beard.
I cut the terry cloth to fit from ear to ear with room for hemming, and cut the mouth a little larger so there would be plenty of room for Zack to talk and not get the yarn in his mouth.  I started stitching the yarn on the terry cloth in rows starting at the bottom of the beard.
I had to see if my idea was going to work.

I cut out a terry cloth hat and sewed the yarn on in rows starting at the bottom of the hat like I did the beeard.  I didn't curl the yarn for the hair, I tried, but the dowel I used was too big and the yarn didn't curl.  I think it looks fine with out being curled.
Zack came home from School and I asked him to try it on, so I could figure out where and how to attach the beard to the wig.  He was so excited to see that I had finished them both.

Yes, Miss Hailey had to try it on too.

Here is the crown that I made.  I punched leaves out of Olive cs and embossed the veins and then sprayed them with hammered copper Krylon spray paint.

I made the belt out of card board that was in my recycle bin, and cs scraps.  I used an embossing plate on the center area of the belt.  I stamped xoxoxox on the top edge of the belt band.  The cs I used is Cocoa and Cashmere.  The buckle I printed and layered onto cardboard.  I have a cuff for him too but it is too wet to mess with yet.  I'll show it when we have the complete costume.

Now we just need to work on his toga and shoes.

One Sheet Wonder cards - Update

I am teaching a class called One Sheet Wonder.  I will show the class how to take 1 sheet of background and texture or decorative paper and make 15-17 cards from it.  Here is a sample of the basic cards using CTMH's Buzz & Bumble paper pack.

Like I said basic, but look at what I turned them into.

You can find lots of cutting diagrams on Pinterest and other sites, but not all of them have pictures of what to do with the pieces once you've cut them.  I made my own cutting diagram using some of the other ones as a guide.  I am providing all of my attendees my cutting diagram, pictures of basic cards and ideas of what to do to take them to the next level.  This would be a great gift to give someone who loves to send cards to friends and family just because.

I am teaching this class on Saturday,  May 11, 2013 at 10:00 am. The cost is just $10.00  If you wish to take the class or know someone who would like to take the class, please email me at jwilson@bctonline.com for the directions.

“Pigment or Dye?”

“Pigment or Dye?” features techniques for using and choosing between pigment and dye inks.

Monday, November 5, 2012

Here are the cards for my card class on November 17th.

I made this card using Black, Lagoon and Topiary card stock.  I stamped the tree from Family Tree D1526  and the butterfly from A Flitter A1108 in Black Ink on the Lagoon card stock.  I used a white gel pen to dot the edge of the black card stock.
This card I inked the stamp from Pirouette B1409 in Bamboo ink and then in Sky ink and stamped it in the top left corner of the Daisy White card stock and then Stamped Thinking of you in Dessert Sand ink.  I backed the Daisy White in Dessert Sand card stock and then layered that onto a Sky card base. I then added a large rhinestone to the center of the medalion.
I made this card using Black and Daisy White card stock and punched out the black and white keys using a SU word label punch. Tied the red ribbon where the black and white meet.  I then stamped Happy Anniversary in Daisy White pigment ink on the black card stock.
I made this card using Avonlea paper and the Workshop on the go stamp set. I started with a Dessert Sand card base. I distressed the edges and folded down the top portion of the bottom piece of B&T then layered a 2" doily from Artiste and layered a 1 1/2" doily with a ribbon rose on top of that.  I stamped the tag in Bamboo and Juniper Ink.  I added 2 medium rhinestones to the top left corner and Chocolate bakers twine to the tag.
If you would like to come to my class on November 17th you can join  Meet up and then join Portland
Friend Scrap, all the details on the class are listed on our group. The cost is $7.00.

I hope you are inspired by my cards, I found inspiration on Pinterest and splitcoaststampers.com.

Birthday card.

Here is a birthday card that I made this week for my friend Loyal.  I made it using La Belle Vie papers and the Artiste Cricut cartridge along with our new Black Tulle ribbon and the coordinating stamp set Jardin D1528 and one of the coordinating stamp sets that came with the Artiste cartridge.  I used Whisper and Black ink and sponged the edges of all in Bamboo ink.  I added small pearls and rhinestones also.

This was so much fun to make and it was easy to roll the roses using the new Quilling tool Z 1795.  If you would like to make cards like this call 503-708-6889 or email me jwilson@bctonline.com and I will schedule a class.
