Yeah!!! The last Birthday in October, at my house, has been celebrated.

Yesterday was Hailey's 8th birthday.  Dawn and I made all the decorations, or at least revamped them.  We found these little pink bags that worked well for the goodie bags for the girls.  We added the Duck Tape and Monster High sticker to the front and they look like they were made that way.
I made these bags for the boys.  I used some old paper and added strips of black and Blue cardstock.
I found something similar to these little books on Dr. Phil Scraps blog.  I used a 3 x 5 index card that I picked up at dollar tree a couple years back.  I used the Pro Player paper and Tech Speak for the images that I hand cut and put on the cover.  I glued a ribbon under the game controller and attached the other end to an ink pen.
I took streamers and added the skulls and the Monster High logo to the star at the bottom of the streamer.

I made a banner with Hailey's name on it to hang across between the living room and dinning room.
We found mini Top Hats at Party CIty and I added the Curly ribbon the side so that the birthday girls was a little different.  Look at that smile.

Tarina always makes the cutest cards.

I made her a card called Puppy Ears card.
She liked it way more than I thought.
When you pull on the tongue the ears pop up and on the inside of the ears it says Hi There!  Here is a link to the site where I found the card and the tutorial with pattern.
Dawn gave Hailey 2 - My Little Pony surprise packs from Toys R us.  she was showing me so I could take pictures and mom put the teal bag on Hailey's head.
Hailey is holding a mini Skull/magic 8 ball.
Hailey starting singing as soon as she put it on.
Grandpa had to try the hat on for size.
I made a mask for the cake and Dawn sprinkled Powdered sugar over the mask and then add the pink bow.
Uncle Luke even came over for the party.
I wish I had been ready to capture the look on Hailey's face when she opened the door and found all the decorations.  It was priceless.  She was so excited, we could hardly calm her down long enough to eat the Chicken nuggets, bacon and corn on the cob that she requested for dinner.

As soon as Dawn and the kids got home. I received a phone call.  It was Miss Hailey, asking me to make her another Puppy Dog Ear card, because she had broken an ear off on the way home.

Fibromyalgia is not psychosomatic. Well I could have told you that.

I found this article on Fibromyalgia and wanted to share the information.
WASHINGTON, October 17, 2013— The National Biotechnology Information Center (NBIC) of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) recently released the findings of research funded by grants from Eli Lilly Pharmaceuticals and Forest Laboratories that claim to have discovered a causative pathology (the science of cause and effect)  for fibromyalgia.
The cause of the disease escaped researchers for years. In fact, the condition was considered by many in the field of medicine as psychosomatic (in the mind) because of the variety of symptoms that could not be clinically pinned down and patient reporting was the primary criteria.
Dr. Frank Rice writes of findings at Integrated Tissue Dynamics that has made a major discovery of the cause of fibromyalgia, making diagnosis more certain and explaining the multitude of varied symptoms and effect.
Research has identified alterations in our core body temperature is a culprit, as our blood acts as a coolant in much the same fashion water does in the radiator of a car. Our major organs and active muscles require a constant temperature of about 98.6 degrees Fahrenheit but sufferers cannot maintain a steady temperature.
If we lose too much heat (hypothermia) or gain too much heat (hyperthermia), our body’s primary thermostat, the hypothalamus, struggles to maintain balance. Our blood is the means by which our body and brain get nutrients, oxygen and takes away waste and blood flow is disrupted.
When we use our muscles, particularly the hands and feet, blood flows between the skin and muscles and must be kept in balance. We have internal thermostat controls distant from the hypothalamus called aterio-venous shunts or AV shunts that act as valves between arterioles or veins that supply the good stuff and venules which carry away waste.
Much as the body as a whole, these must be in synch for homeostasis.
The smallest part of our blood supply system is the capillaries which are tiny vessels that act as temperature regulators (among many other functions) and either conserve or release heat. Capillaries run throughout or bodies and are highly concentrated in our hands and feet.  It has long been known that when malfunctioned from injury or another pathological issue, capillary function is diminished causing problems for diabetics.
Now it has been discovered when the AV shunt is defective in function and interferes with capillary function, muscle and skin tissue cannot get proper nutrition or waste drawn away. Additionally, temperature regulation becomes an issue affecting nerve fibers.
One result is a build-up of lactic acid in muscle and deeper tissue affecting the muscular system and causes pain that can seem to ‘travel’ from areas of the body one day to the next and cause fatigue, commonly reported from victims of fibromyalgia.
The sympathetic nervous system which uses the spinal cord for communication and the sensory fibers or nerve fibers that carry signals to the central nervous system, can have their communication disrupted by the results of AV shunt disorder and hypersensitized nerves send pain signals that can ‘travel’ as well.
The American Academy of Pain Medicine featured this research on its front cover accompanied by a laudatory editorial from Robert Gerwin of the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. To date, the research is confined to women since women seem to suffer from fibromyalgia in greater numbers than men.
According to this research, Fibromyalgia has pathology and is not psychosomatic so those who suffer from this ‘syndrome’ can now rest assured it is not all in their minds.
Paul Mountjoy is a Virginia based writer and psychotherapist.

Those of us who suffer from Fibromyalgia know that the pain is not psychosomatic.  It irritates me when I read articles with comments like this.  I know he means well, but he should choose different words.

I am getting ready to celebrate 3 years of being PAIN FREE!!!  It is so Awesome.  I am enjoying every moment that I can.  Now my goal is to be a thinner person.

I hope that in some way my blog helps and inspires everyone who reads it.

It's Birthday Month at our house.

We have several birthdays to celebrate.  Jordan, Jayden and Mary share the same birthday October 3rd along with my friends Teri and Honallee.  Little Elvis' is on the 6th. Tammy's is on October 13, along with Jo's.  Zackery, Courtney and Kobe share the same birthday on Oct 14th. Gabe and Shavon share the Birthday.  On the 16th is Dawn's and the 17th is Lee's.  My Nephew Steve's is on the 22nd and last but not least is Miss Hailey on October 28th.  I didn't look at my Birthday calendar so I'm sure I missed someone.  It can get kind of crazy at my house this time of year.  We usually have a big Halloween birthday party for the kids, but not this year.  There are some of these birthdays that are not local and we don't celebrate them here, but we do remember them.

I love to dress up as much as the kids do.  I went to bunco the other night and it was a get wiggy theme bunco.  Here is a pic
