Open crop & Fundraiser for RPHS Choir Students!

My Friend Shannon held a FREE Open Crop and Fundraiser yesterday to help raise funds for her daughter to go to Chicago to a conference in March.  We didn't raise a lot of funds but we had a great time.  My friends Kate and Loyal came and the 4 of us worked on our own projects and enjoyed visiting and telling story's.  We met at Somerset Senior Living center in the Willamette room.  There were 9 tables and lots of plugins for us to have 2 Cricuts and our heat guns and our laptops right at our tables.  Shannon brought sandwiches from subway and chips and I supplied the coffee, tea and cocoa.

Shannan and I want to have more of these Open Crops and hope you will join us.  I will try to post the next one on my blog but you could also join my Meetup group and keep up to date on all the events I have in the works.  just follow this link The-Beavercreek Paper Crafters meetup group  You might have to join meetup also but it is FREE to join both.  If you just join meetup and not my meetup group you still will not be able to see all the information for my events.

My first Card Class in The Dalles.

I forgot to take my camera and I really didn't have time to take any pictures any way.  I had 9 ladies come and 4 followed me into the room, anxious to get started.  My Sister Shirley came and brought her, Friend Pastor Tammy From The Salvation Army and my 2 great Nieces, Christa and Amber.  Christa joined us in making the cards and had a great time.  Amber just hung out and sent texts to her friends.  I stayed and visited with My Mother and Father-in-law while they ate lunch and then went back to their room for a little while.  After that I went with Shirley and the girls to Sorosis park and visited with Shirley while the girls played with their friends at the park.  It was Shirley's Birthday so I  wanted to spend the day with her.  I hope she enjoyed the day as much as I did.  I really need to do this more often.  I miss spending time with both Shirley and My Mother-in-law.  I mentioned to Christa that I needed to come up more often and she agreed, so I assumed that she wanted to see me more too.

I will post pictures of the cards we made soon.

New artwork.

Happy Valentines Day!!!

myscrapchick.com has some very cute cut files for your electronic die cutting machines and this is just one of them.  This was a FREE cut file that comes to me via email every Friday.

I made mine into a Candy bar wrapper instead of a card and gave it to my dear hubby for valentines day.

I made some for My Grandchildren this afternoon too, but I made them with punches.

I made boy ones by putting mustaches on them.
Jordan thought his looked French and Zack's had a Hitler stache.

I punched out 2 hearts and a 1/4" circle to make bows on the girls' ones.

This is a door hanger I made from the Sweetheart Level 2 paper pack and B1369 Rosy Regards Stamp set.

This is also from the Sweetheart paper pack and B1368 Baby Love Stamp set.

This one is also from Sweetheart papers and B1368 Baby Love Stamp set.  On the bottom there are box pleats that look like a shirt.
This card is made with C1439 Enjoy Life Stamp set and Sweetheart Papers.

I hope you liked my cards and candy bar wrappers.

Clarinet Practice.

Jordan came home from school today and soon started practicing his clarinet.  He is starting to play pretty well for his first year.  He played several songs and then decided to play his rendition of his father snoring in the living room. Yes, Charlie slept through Jordan's practice.  How?  I do not know.  So Dawn decided to video tape it.  Here it is.

At one point you can tell he is laughing because he can't continue to play the same notes.  Jordan is such a joy to have around, even when he is being a typical 12 year old.

I hope you enjoy the rendition, leave me a message so I can share it with Jordan and Dawn.

Are Fairies real?

Saturday, my two granddaughters were making Fairy houses to see if Fairies were really real.  My grandson Zack got on board and made a Fairy Hotel sign.  They went out to play and I went to a friends house.  Yesterday after the 3 older kids got home they went outside to play and they were out there a very short time when Hailey (5 yrs) burst into my stamp room exclaiming THEY'RE REAL!, THEY'RE REAL!  So I had to ask "What is real?"  "Fairies, Grandma" she said.  So I asked" How do you know?"  She said "We left crackers and sunflower seeds out in the houses and the crackers are gone!" THEY'RE REALLY REAL!  She was so excited to  find out that Fairies are really real, that I had to share this news with all of you in case you have little ones who want to know if they are real too.

Hailey is such a girly girl, and always smiling. We have a hard time getting her to wear anything but dresses, even in the snow and freezing cold.  Usually we just have her put on pants under the dress.  That way we are all happy.

I hope you enjoyed the story today.

Steve is Joan's oldest Son and this is our Family.  back row, Steve, Janice,Charlie, Dawn and in the front row James, Zack, Jordan is standing behind Great Grandma, Mary & Hailey.

Steve's Sister Barbara was not able to make it to the party but she came and spent most of the week here with her Mother before the party.

This is Dianne, She is Joan's 2nd daughter and 3rd in line.  Dianne's daughter Hali and her little girl Piper were able to stay for the party.

Jim, is Joan's 4th child and this is his family, Alex, Karl and Kyle.
Dave is Joan's 5th child and this is his wife Tammy (the photographer) and their Son Gabe.  Tammy also scrapbooks and creates for Citrus Hill Studios.
You should check out her blog http://tammydee-meandmine.blogspot.com/

Maria, Joan's youngest daughter, was not able to  make it to the party either.

Dan is Joan's youngest and he and Nancy have Sonny and twins Henry Paul and Ruby June.

Here are 3 of the cousins Karl, Gabe and Zack.  They had so much fun playing together.  You can't tell it by his size,  but Zack is 2 1/2 years older than Karl and 3 years older than Gabe.  The girls better watch out when these three grow up.  Just look at those eyes.

Thanks Tammy for all the GREAT pictures.

New Card Class coming soon.

I am so excited I just had to share with everyone.  My Mother-In Law recently moved into Flagstone Senior Living in The Dalles, OR. She asked me to come up and share some of my craft ideas with her.  She has always been a very busy person and very active in the community, but now has given up her car and finds herself with nothing to keep herself busy.  I thought this would be a great way to start a class for others to enjoy also.  I have been wanting to talk to the Activities director there to find out if I could teach a simple card class, so today I made time to make the phone call and get this class set up.  My first class will be on February 19th @ 10:00am. Now I just have to come up with some simple cards.  I think I will make Birthday, Thank you, Thinking of you and maybe some Sympathy cards, that way they can use them.  I will post pictures of the cards that I come up with this next week.

After the class I can spend some time with my Sister on her birthday.

Grandma Turns 80!

Well you know we couldn't leave that alone.  So we planned this huge wonderful surprise party.  I started this idea just before Christmas and got all the family in on it.  Then I contacted the Church and Senior center to see where we could have the party. The Church Hall was available and was the perfect place to have the party.  I sent out invitations and started making party decorations.  We were able to keep it a complete surprise.  Here are some pictures that I took, between visiting and making sure everything ran as planned.

As Grandma (Steve's Mom) entered the room we started singing Happy Birthday.  She was so surprised.

The first thing she said to me was I wondered where you were.  She said Barbara( her Daughter who lives in Alaska) was here most of the week and didn't even say a word. Barbara was not able to make it to the party as she had made other plans that could not be changed.  So out of 7 children she had 5 there and all in on the surprise.

I took her for a fitting so that I knew the Tiara would fit.  I told her she was Queen for the day and she said just for the day?

My Son James had to give Grandma a hug and wish her a Happy Birthday  as she was starting to mingle with her friends.
Grandpa Bill and Grandma holding Ruby June one of her youngest Sons Twins.

Grandma holding Ruby and Dan (Her Youngest Son) Giving her a Birthday hug and kiss.
Bill Standing Grandma holding Ruby, June Dan's MIL) Holding Henry Paul, Ruby Junes Twin, Dan and way in the back is Dan's brother David
Bill, David, Dan and Grandma holding Ruby and Grandma June holding Henry.
My Granddaughter Hailey and My Sister-in-Law Dianne's Granddaughter Piper playing under the table we had set up for the kids to make valentine cards while the adults were visiting.
My Sister Shirley, putting the finishing touches on the cake.  I had forgot to add the little pearls to the main base cake like we had to the two round layers.  She also made a Gluten Free cake so that those who couldn't have Gluten could still enjoy some cake too. I don't know what I would have done with out her.  She was so much help.  She came at 9 am and even stayed and helped clean up till we left at 4pm..
This is Grandma Joan standing behind her cake that I made, wearing her tiara.

We only ate the top round layer which was white cake with Bavarian Cream and Raspberry filling and 1/4 of the bottom cake which was Chocolate with Chocolate Mousse filling.  So I donated The large chocolate layer to St Vincent De Paul for their community meal and I took the rest to the Senior Center where they were getting ready for bingo.  We also had a couple salads left by some guests and we donated those to the Community meal too.

Just as I took the last picture Little Piper walked up with a balloon tied to her wrist (so that Mom and Grandma Dianne could find her) and it looked so cute with her standing there next to Great Grandma, I just had to take another one.
I made these to go on the table covers for the cake table and the food tables.  I stamped the pink with brown butterflies then scored every 1/2 inch and folded accordion style and connected both ends together then pressed flat and glued to a circle in the back.

I bought these table decorations and added the pink butterflies and the center medallion.

Here is a better picture of them.

I made the small medallions the same as I did the big ones.  We had pink balloons tied to them while they were on the tables.  I wish I would have gotten more pictures of the way we had things set up.  The food table (4 to be exact) was full of delicious looking food and it smelled wonderful too.  I couldn't eat most of it because of the Elimination diet that I am on.  I feel so much better than I have in a very long time so I was good and didn't try anything.  NOT EVEN THE CAKE!!!  I didn't even taste the frosting, I had my sisterShirley do that.  And those of you who know me, I hope your not on the floor.

I think I talked to everyone who entered the party and they all came up to me before they left and thanked me  for inviting them and letting them be part of this wonderful party.  I had some ask me if I do this for a living and when I said no they said that I should because it ran so smoothly and was a very nice party.  One lady said that she and her husband owned the Bakery in The Dalles for 30 years and thought I had done a wonderful job on the cake and the flavor and moistness was fantastic and coming from a bakers wife that is quite a compliment. She saw I had a line up of people waiting for cake and said do you mind if I help you?  She helped cut and serve the cake.  Then suggested that I donate some of it to St Vincent De Paul's community dinner, so I did.

My Daughter Dawn and her Husband Charlie and all 4 grandchildren were a tremendous help also.  They helped set up which included unloading my van and their car and directing people who brought food where to set it and had people sign the poster so that Grandma could see who all was there, in case she didn't get to talk to everyone.  Dawn and Shirley started the clean-up as soon as they saw people starting to clear out.  Steve jumped in the kitchen and started doing dishes.  I had a couple ladies tell me that I had trained the fellas right when she saw that they were doing so much to help.   My family is very helpful when I get these big ideas to throw a party like this.  I don't know what I would do without them.

My Sister-in-Law Tammy is a photographer and scrap-booker( http://tammydee-meandmine.blogspot.com/ ) and she took family pictures of each of the families with Grandma so that we have generational pictures.  I will post ours when I get it.

I know this isn't cards or Scrapbooking but I hope you enjoyed the story and pictures.

Happy Scrapin',
