Today is Memorial Day!!!

A day in which we honor those who fought and died for our freedom.  

We will never forget!!!

Steve and I will be at the VFW Post 1324 in Oregon City, OR today from Noon - 5pm.  Steve will be among the vendors with their own private Military collections on display.  I will be helping in the kitchen or where ever I am needed.  We are serving Hamburgers and Hot dogs along with other refreshments so please stop by and say hello if you are in the area we would love to see you.  

We are always collecting personal hygiene products if you would like to drop off a donation you can do that today as well.

This year has been amazing.

I was just looking at my dashboard and saw that I have 73,921 hits.  I went back to January 11th and I had 65,252 hits.  That is 8,669 hits in 4 months, that is an average of 72 people visiting my blog every day.  To me that is amazing.  I never thought I would have many people looking at my blog.

I have been so busy doing so many other things that I haven't had the time to post like I used to. I am hoping that I can start scraping and making cards again real soon. March Already???

I have had a lot going on the last 2 month. Been sick for most of it and finally feeling better.  I have been sewing more quilts for the VA hospital, I think we now have 17 Lap Quilts done and ready to go, 16 pair of Fleece slippers and 50 neck pillows.  10 pair of crocheted slippers too.  We are also putting together 16 birthday bags to take with us in March.
This is my latest lap quilt. The blue fabric actually has red, orange and yellow leaves. 

Since I have been sewing so much I decided to make a Thread catcher and Pin Cushion for my sewing table.  Maybe I won't make such a mess when sewing.  Ok, give your head a shake, cause we all know that won't happen. lol  Here is the link to the thread catcher tutorial I found on pinterest.com  http://mypolkadotapron.blogspot.com/2011/05/thread-catcher-tutorial.html

This was a fabric remnant that I found at JoAnn's in OC. I love the bright colors and I have the perfect purple to accent it with.  It was so easy to make too.  I just might have to make some more.  I found the pattern on Pinterest and decided to change it a little.  I added a piece to hold my scissors and a mini pocket to hole my seam ripper.  I still have to add something to the pincushion, like rice, sand or the Silicone pellets.  

What do you use to fill your pin cushions?

I think I might change the next one so that I can detach the pin cushion so I can wash the thread catcher if I need to sometime.

VFW Post turned 90 Feb. 17, 2015

I did get some scrapping done, our VFW Post turned 90.  

we made tea light cakes to give away. 

  I made a story board showing some of the events we went to and what we did.

 This was all VFW and Ladies Auxiliary members who showed up early to set up.

   Our Commander DJ Ruger and me in my Flapper costume.  Mr Ruger had no idea I planned on wearing my Flapper costume when he asked me to be the Greeter.  All the jewelry is TuVous.  It was a lot of fun.  Lots of people were confused by my costume, but when they realized that I represented when the post was started in 1925, they came back to tell me how perfect it was.

Visitor Counter 346? What?

I'm not sure what is up with my Visitor counter, but the actual numbers I see from the dashboard is 65,252 visitors.  That amazes me.  I am so excited when I see the numbers moving so quickly.

I am sorry that I have not been as active on posting that I should have and I plan on changing that very soon.  I have been very active with the VFW Ladies Auxiliary and TuVous and I really need to focus here.  I have a lot of scrapbooking that I need to get done for the Ladies Auxiliary and that is where I will start.  Thanks for being patient with me and checking back for updates.

My Lap Quilt tops for our Veterans at the VA hospital.

As you know I am a member of the Ladies Auxiliary VFW Post 1324 in Oregon City, OR and we make several items for the Veterans in the VA Hospital, like neck pillows, lap quilts, crochet slippers and fleece slippers. Our goal is to have 20 Lap Quilts by March.   Here are a few that I have put together.

Now we have to put batting and backing on then tie them and add the binding and we will be done.  We worked on them a couple days ago and have 3 ready to tie. I'll try to show you the finished ones once we are done.
