Update on Zack's Ancient Civilization Celebration today.

I didn't take as many pics as I did when Jordan had his, but here are a few pics of todays celebration.

Zack right after he set up his Museum in the hall.  Everyone loved Zack's costume, several wanted to know how I made the beard.  They didn't know you could curl yarn in the oven.  A couple said next time we need a costume, we're calling you.
Here other students are asking him all about Zeus.
On his right is Mathew, our neighbor, he was a Centaur, and Ms Agar is there, asking him about Centaurs.
On his Left was a Minotaur. Again Ms. Agar asking about Minotaurs.
As we were hanging out watching the reactions to Zacks costume, we couldn't help but overhear the conversations with the Minotaur, he is over 7 ft tall.  Well, I don't think there is a shorter person in the 6th grade, but at least he had a BIG hammer.

Zack finds out on Monday who got Best Costume.

I had so much fun making Zacks costume and Zack was so proud of it.  He made sure to tell everyone that I made it too.  It consists of 1 Queen size sheet, cardboard, cardstock, a small piece of terry cloth, 1 1/2 skeins of yarn, Yellow and Hammered Copper spray paint, a tin wristlet that Grandpa picked up at a yard sale last weekend, an image of Zeus' belt printed from the internet, some hot glue, adhesive and a pin back.  I also used an embossing folder and an acrylix stamp.  I can't forget the most important part, Lots of LOVE to make the costume.

Mr. Bartsch set this celebration up several years ago and they had 2 celebrations, Greek and Egyptian for the first one and Chinese and Roman for the second one.  Well, Mr Bartsch retired last year and they combined the two celebrations and included animals in the characters. Mr. Bartsch came by to visit and see how things were going this year and told us that this was exactly what Zack needed, and that he was AWESOME as Zeus.  He loved the costume and that Zack had studied his character well.  They had a lunch with all kinds of food, but we didn't stay to see all that.  Zack said he had an AWESOME day when he got home tonight.

Happy Scrappin',

Janice
