What could be better than Twins for Valentines Day?

Ok, let me clarify a little. I don't mean Twins as in a date, or as in new Grandbabies. Well they are kind of new Grand kids. Charlie's friend went to a live stock auction yesterday and bought 4 baby goats, yes I said goats, or Kids. When he got home with them his wife only wanted 2 so Charlie got a call from his friend and said he would take the two that they didn't want. So today while Dawn was at school, Grandpa and I took Miss Hailey to the Base to pick up the Kids. Here are some pics.

Hailey found that they like to suck on her finger. She thought that was pretty funny.

Here Charlie is telling Hailey about the babies. They are 14 days old, so they will need to be bottle fed for about another month or so.

When we got them to our house it was time to feed them so Hailey helped Mom give them a bottle.

Charlie was telling Dawn to enjoy the ride home with the goats in the car. They were so loud on our way home from the base, that Hailey asked if we could shut them up, or turn the radio on loud.

They are very cute. Guess I'm gonna have to scrapbook the twins.

Next Saturday's Card Class in The Dalles, OR

Here are 3 of the 4 cards I am making for class next Saturday.

I am using Lucy Level 2 papers and Smoothie, White Daisy and Colonial White Card Stock. I borrowed the Thanks A Latte stamp from my friend Jeanie. I stamped it in Grey Wool ink and colored it in with Dessert Sand and Creme Brulee markers.

I got a free SVG cut File the other day for the Shamrock and I found a tutorial on how to make the Leprechaun hat, it was from last year. I have seen the Leprechaun punch art on Splitcoaststampers before, but came up with my own version.

This is the New Quick Cards-Butterfly A1120 I inked it up with Sky then rocked the stamp on Lagoon before I stamped it onto White Daisy card stock. I layered it onto Lagoon card stock and then on the sky that I had embossed with Swiss Dots. I inked the edges of the butterfly paper, the White Daisy and the Sky papers with Sky ink. I love how the Butterfly turned out.

My friend Jeanie came over to play today, she got a lot done. I did too but it took me a lot longer to do it. I am going to start having crops at my house soon, I will let you know when. I think I can have 6 people here with plenty of room.

Last Saturday's Spring/Summer 2012 Idea Book Kick off was a huge success.

The day started off a little rocky, several of us showed up at the Somerset Assisted Living center in Glad Stone, OR and found that when they booked the room they mis-read the Previous bookings times as 9:00 am - 12:00am as being done at Noon, so they tried to get us another room but they were all booked. Luckily one of our new members and her friend knew of a place we could move the event to. They even called Round Table Pizza in West Linn and they allowed us to bring our potluck in with us. The Staff was AWESOME, even told us to leave anything we don't want and they would take care of it. We had a total of 13 ladies show up and we all had a great time. 8 of us played Bunko and then we all took a table and spread out our stuff and went to work. I forgot to take my camera, but Shannon took pictures and sent then to me. Here they are.

I put some small stamp sets in the Bunko Prize bags, along with some embellishments and everyone was so excited to get them. Shannon asked a question every 30 minutes and gave away 15 D size stamp sets. The questions ranged from Do you have pets, to Are you wearing colored Panties?

Prizes for Bunko.

Here are the little bags that I have been working on for the Prizes for the Bunko game on Saturday. These came together so easy today and were so much fun to make.

If you have ever played Bunko, you would know that there are 4 prizes, Most Bunko's, Most Wins, Most Losses and Last Bunko. Each bag has a tag stating which winner they go to.

Here is a close up of the "Most Wins" bag.

The decorative paper is from the New Spring/Summer 2012 Idea Book, it is called Lucy (X7149B) and I used the small flower from the Card Word Puzzle C1494 Stamp set. I made a cut file of the small flower for my Cricut so I didn't have to hand cut all of them. I used a Permanent marker on White brads to make the center of the flower. The bag and tag is from The CTMH Art Philosophy Cricut Cartridge. I used Cotton Candy, Pear, Blush, Colonial White, Vanilla Cream and Creme Brulee card stock.

Bunko pass-a-rounds for Saturdays party.

Here are the Pass-a-rounds that I made for the Bunko game on Saturday. Yes they are candy bars wrapped up real pretty and hidden inside are tickets for the Grand prize Basket of goodies. Here is the pic.

I really meant to work on the prize bags today, but have had a very busy day. That is my priority tomorrow.

I am so excited about Saturday, I am having so much fun making all this stuff. I can't wait to see everyone and meet my new friends at the Spring/Summer 2012 Idea book kick off party.

Saturday February 4th is our Spring/Summer 2012 Idea Book Kick off.

Shannon and I are planning a huge Idea Book Kick off party for Saturday. We are playing Bunko from 1-3 pm and then croppin' till we drop or 10:00 pm, which ever comes first. I have been working on some decorations and wanted to give a sneak peek. I am using the new Lucy level 2 paper pack, Cotton Candy and Pear. Everything is CTMH except the Umbrella handle, plastic cups and candy.

I made the Umbrellas by cutting a 2" X 12" strip of paper and scoring it every 1/4" I folded it and glued the ends together. I then used hot glue to secure the one edge together while holding a Stir stick in the center and added the little scalloped circle on top after I folded it between each of the scallops. The paper on the right of the Bunny is a cupcake wrapper that I am putting inside the clear cups and filling with Valentine candies, each will have an Umbrella too.

I am making little packages for the prizes for Bunko and the pass-a-rounds. I will show those later.

The Bunny is our Bunko Bunny.

This party is gonna be a lot of FUN!!!

I helped three of my grandchildren make cards today for their Great Grandparents. Here are the cards.

This is the card Jordan made for his Great Grandma Barbara, for her Birthday today. It is made with Roxie level 2 papers, a label cut out on the Cricut and a rose from a retired set. The heart is cut from the Cricut also. The swirl that is stamped on the heart is from Harvest Happiness C1463.

I helped Miss Hailey make this one for GG Barbara, it is made with the Sonoma level 2 papers and Smoky plum. The flowers, heart and ticket are all cut out with the Cricut. The heart was then embossed with an embossing folder from Stampin'Up. The ticker was stamped with I Love You from the Tag the Occasion B1362. I added the rhinestone brads. I punched the Decorative scallop border and sponged all the edges with Dessert Sand ink.

I helped Zack make this one for Great Grandpa Ron. To tell him thank you for his gift. We used Wonderland level 2 papers and Cut the Circle card, hearts and half circles out with the Cricut. We stamped the hearts with the swirl from Harvest Happiness C1463, then layered one on Twilight card stack and popped it up with foam tape.

Miss Mary made one for Great Grandpa Ron last week that was an easel card. It had a flower pot with 3 purple layered flowers. It turned out very nice and I forgot to take a picture of it. Maybe she will bring it back before they send them off.

It is always nice to hear what others think of our cards, give some love by leaving a comment.

New artwork.

My DH's 60th Birthday is tomorrow and I made a couple cards for him. We couldn't figure out how to get together on his actual Birthday so we got together last night. We had pizza and Red Velvet cake. YUM!!!. Ok well they had the cake and I had fruit. I did make my own Pizza, I used a brown rice tortilla and I mixed onion, garlic and Basil into tomato past and put the tomato paste on top of the tortilla. I then added ground turkey, mushrooms and pineapple then shredded Rice cheese on top. Baked in the oven at 425 for 10 minutes till the cheese melted. Yum.

Any way here are the cards I made for him;

I made this card for all of us to sign for Steve. I used Sonoma level 2 papers with Stamp sets Blue Ribbon C1464 and November's Stamp of the Month Cherish the Day S1111. The Happy Birthday stamp is from Gracious Greetings a set that has been retired for years, but I still love it. I used Dessert Sand, Colonial White, Olive and Smokey Plum CS and Dessert Sand, Cocoa, Olive, Petal and Smokey Plum ink. I added 2 large Cocoa brads to the labels that I cut out with the Cricut. I cut the Tickets and star out with the Cricut also.

I made this card to give Steve on his actual birthday. It is an easel card. I used The edge strip from Roxie level 2 paper pack Hollyhock, Dessert Sand, Dutch Blue and Sky CS I used Decembers' Stamp of the months Mad about You S1112. I punched some Butterflies from the Hollyhock cs and stamped them with the swirl from the stamp set and colored the bodies with Dessert Sand ink. I added the HEELS to the second ticket because I added High Heels to the inside of the card. (See below) I cut the heels from black cs and from the Zebra stripe B&T paper. I also used the Happy Birthday from Gracious Greetings on this card. I cut all the tickets from the Art Philosophy Cricut Cartridge.

I get SVG Cut files from MyScrapChick.com and the shoes were a new file from this week. It also comes with socks and boots and you can make cards with them. So cute and they are on sale. You should check out the site.

I like how both of the cards turned out, I hope Steve does too.

Get Well card

Here is a card I cased from Tresa Black over at Fabulously Artsy

I used the stamp set from Rock The Block to make this card. I used Smoothie, Pear, Black and White Daisy card stock. Smoothie and Tulip ink. I punched a 1/2" and two 1/4" circles from black then added sparkles. The Get Well is from Tag the Occasion B1362. I stamped the Get Well on a 3/4" White Daisy circle and layered it onto the 1" Black circle.

Thank you cards for Steve.

I finally finished the Thank you cards for Steve to send out. I mostly used CTMH products but occasionally I used some SU stamps too. I tried to keep them pretty simple, so here they are.

I used an old SU background stamp and the Thanks is also SU.

This card is using CTMH's Sonoma Level 2 Papers Chocolate, Colonial White and Olive CS, Olive, Bamboo and Dessert Sand Ink . The stamps are Love Life D1482 and A Little Thanks D1444.

I used the same stamps and papers only changed the stamping a little.

I used some older paper here and I can't think of the name. I cut out the decorative labels and Leaves out with the Cricut using the CTMH Art Philosophy Cricut cartridge. The flower is CTMH Scallop Circle punch and the Thanks is SU's.

I used the CTMH's Wonderland Level 2 Papers and Colonial White CS. I cut the card out with the Art Philosophy cartridge then layered the wonderland papers. I used SU's Thanks stamp and the CTMH Love Life D1482 stamp set.

These are also made using Wonderland Level 2 papers and the Art Philosophy Cricut cartridge.

I made this card using an old French Script background stamp and CTMH's Love Life D1482 stamp set. I also used the Sonoma level 2 papers and Gypsy CS. I also used Dessert Sand ink.

I took Sonoma Level 2 papers and stamped SU's French script on it then added a flourish from Love Life D1482 then added it to the Colonial White card base. I stamped The SU Thank You onto Colonial White cs and stamped the flourish from Instant Memories C1466

Like I said earlier I tried to keep them simple because I had so many to make.

I plan on making more projects soon so check back often.

Potato Leek Soup and new Artwork.

I got up this morning and it was snowing so I started working on my Thank you cards. I need to make about 30, I got 4 done, but took a break to make Potato Leek soup. I make mine a little different because of my diet, but it is so delicious. Today I added some chicken to the soup. My family loves this soup and they aren't restricted from Gluten or Dairy.

Here is the recipe. I don't measure mine but I will give you an estimate on the measurements.

Potato Leek Soup (Gluten and Dairy Free)

1 large Leek (sliced and separated then soaked in water to get the dirt out.)
6-8 medium potatoes (Diced)
2-3 Celery Sticks
1 cup Diced Carrots
2 tablespoons Parsley
2 tablespoons Basil
1 medium Onion
3-4 tablespoons Garlic
1-2 teaspoons Salt
1-2 teaspoons Pepper
3-4 Tablespoons Olive oil or Safola oil
1 Qt chicken stock
1 Qt Rice Milk

Directions;
Pour oil in the pot you are using for the soup, heat on med-high heat. Add potatoes, cook till almost tinder. Stirring often. Add 1 cup chicken stock and continue cooking. Drain your leeks and add to the potatoes. Add the Carrots and Celery too. Add your Parsley, Basil, Onion, Garlic and the rest of the chicken stock. Simmer till all is tinder. Put in blender and add Rice milk to blend. This may have to be done multiple times to blend it all. I like the potato chunks so I only blend part of it. Add back to the pot and mix in the rest of the Rice milk. Add salt and pepper to taste and your soup is ready to serve. Remember you may have to adjust the seasonings as they are just estimates because I don't measure them. I go by taste.

Here are the Thank you cards that I have completed so far. These are quick and simple because I have so many to make. I did change them up a little.

My Daughter sent me a pic of the grandchildren playing snowball baseball in her front yard.

It is still snowing here but it is not sticking. I wish it would at least for a day or two.

Steve's Retirement Ceremony

It has been busy for me the last couple months. My Dear hubby retired from the Air Force and we had his retirement ceremony on the 7th of January. We had the ceremony at the base and they said we had the largest family turn out ever, so after the ceremony they gave all 35 of us a wonderful tour of the areas that Steve has worked in over the last 33 years. It was awesome. I even learned things that I never knew about his job and skills. They had a cute slide show of some of the deployments he has been on and the Commander even shared a short story of one of the deployments they went on together.

I might share the slide show soon. Here are a few pics of the event.

On the left was all the Air Force members who wanted to come and on the right is all of our family. This is Steve's brother David and his wife Tammy and Son Gabe. Behind them is our friends Bob and Donna.

Here the Commander is telling his story of when Steve picked him up at the flight line in the UAE.

Steve wore his Blues because I said I wanted to see him in them one more time. Isn't that sweet?

All the guys and gals standing at Attention,

while the commander gave Steve his Retirement pin and certificate, below.

Jeff and I worked together to order a flag that was flown over the US Capitol,

then Jeff made the beautiful case and engraved a plaque for the front.

Here Neil is presenting a gift to Steve from his shop, it is a silver coin with a F-15 Eagle on one side and a Bald Eagle on the other. It was a perfect choice for Steve. Neil shared how much he has learned from Steve over the last couple years. He even got choked up. It was very touching.

This is Jeff again presenting Steve with an autographed lithograph of an F-15 Eagle.

All the pilots signed the lithograph, and Jeff made the frame and matted it.

They presented me with an award and flowers for supporting him and taking care of things at home.

She is so proud of her children and Steve is her eldest.

After the ceremony, Floyd and Pat took us out to the hanger where they let all of us go up and see the inside of the jet and almost every one took advantage of it. They gave a great tour.

Here we were all learning about the helmet and flight suit.

Pat loves to talk about the equipment and what Steve had to do with all of it. Very interesting stuff.

After the ceremony and tours, we invited everyone back to our house for food. While we were on the tours, our Daughter Dawn and our Niece Tarina went back to our house and pulled out the food and cooked the couple items that needed to be heated just before we ate.

I don't know what I would do with out them, they help me so much. Thanks girls, I LOVE YOU!!!

My Friend Loyal helped me make the banner, then I got the idea to hang boots on it. It is all made from CTMH paper and the Art Philosophy Cricut Cartridge except the boots and they are from the Stand and Salute Cartridge. If you look closely at the picture below you can see the boots that I hung on the dinning room light behind Steve.

James gave Steve a flag that he had had flown in Iraq while he was there in 2006, for Steve's retirement.

This is what was left of the cakes until the girls got a little idea to each take a rose and shove it into their mouths. Yes by girls I mean Dawn, Tarina, and my Sister Shirley.

They were so funny, Shirley had never done this before but thought it would be fun, so here she is with Tarina and their cheeks stuffed with frosting. My great Niece Amber is watching here Nanna be quite silly.

Dawn won the contest with the least amount of frosting all over and she was the fastest at shoving it in. I was standing on a chair to get these pictures and almost fell off from laugh so hard.

Miss Mary decided to get in on the action too.

I was looking at Pinterest the other day and found a sign that fits me. It said,

"I laughed so hard I had tears running down my legs."

I bought Steve a new TV for his retirement gift. The man has everything so what else was there?

James spent 3 days at least setting it all up and getting the remote programmed.

It is 3-D and has internet TV. We have downloaded lots of apps including We Draw which we use our Samsung cell phones as controllers. The screen is only .33 inches thick.

We get Netflix too.

It also has a mood lighting app how cool is that?

We bought it the day after Christmas and we are still trying to figure out how to use the digital remote.

Well I have lots of Thank you cards to make and some birthday cards too.

Close to My Heart Art Philosophy Cricut Cartridge Artwork.

Steve's Mom turned 81 on Friday. We drove to The Dalles to have dinner at Spooky's with Mom and the rest of the family. Dianne, Mariah, Dan, Nancy, Ruby, Henry, Sonny, Alex, Karl, Kyle, June and Sonny. Here is the card I made for her.

I cut all the ovals and the large flowers on the Cricut, including the leaves.

I punched two sizes of flowers in Blush and White card stock.

I stamped the back ground with a background stamp from Stampin' Up.

I have been getting ready for Steve's retirement ceremony this Saturday, and have not had time to create anything with my blocks, but hopefully soon I can get back to creating and sharing my artwork. I have a ton of pictures I need to scrapbook and I need to create cards for class too.

I started to work on cleaning up my Stamp-room, but my Birthday kinda got in the way. I woke up to a Happy Birthday text at 7:45 am and then the phone started ringing. My Daughter and Granddaughter took me to lunch at Red Robin. More phone calls when I got home. My wonderful Husband and Son took me to dinner and a Movie. I logged into Facebook and found lots of Happy Birthday posts. I did get to spend a couple hours in my stamp room, while on the phone. I have had a wonderful day. Who could ask for anything more.

We went to Dufur and spent Christmas Eve with Steve's Mom.

Aunt Mariah got a Wii for Christmas and Kyle couldn't wait to get it set up for her, or maybe he wanted to play it. Mariah told Kyle to go ask Cousin James if he would set it up, not really thinking that he would.

James loves to set things like this up so he went right to work along with Kyle.

All the time Aunt Mariah was letting James know that her satellite TV better work when he gets done cause it was working just fine before he messed with it. James reassured Aunt Mariah that he is a Satellite Communications specialist and this is what he does for work. It will work better when I get done.

After we left Grandmas' Steve and I headed into The Dalles to stay the night at my Brothers, we visited for a while then went to bed. We got up in the morning and had Waffles and eggs for breakfast and visited some more, we played with their youngest Grandson Brayden, here is a pic.

I think we were all too tired to really do much, but the grandchildren seemed to enjoy the gifts that we got them even if they were duplicated. We got Hailey an art set that apparently someone else gave her too, so I suggested that she leave one of them here so she has something to do when she comes over.

We had a very busy Christmas, but it was fun.

Steve's Retirement Invitations

Here are the invitations I am making for Steve's retirement party.

I started with Colonial White card stock and sponged the edges with Dessert sand Ink. I took Dessert sand card stock and sponged the edges of it with dessert sand ink. I printed my Husbands name and rank out on colonial white card stock and then stamped the banner from CTMH's HERO stamp set D 1474, over the name in dessert sand ink. Then hand cut out the banner. I printed out the words RETIRED and WILSON on Colonial white card stock and stamped the tag from SU's Tiny Tags stamp set and punched them out using SU's coordinating punch. I sponged the edges with dessert sand ink. I added the tags to the dessert sand card stock before I adhered it down. I printed the camouflage paper and cut it and punched ticket corners then layered it onto Dutch Blue and then onto Cocoa card stock. I added the name banner to the top. I placed that at the bottom of the card over the dessert sand card stock. I stamped the Soldier from SU's Godspeed stamp set onto colonial white card stock and punched ticket corners, I then sponged dessert sand ink all around the edges and onto the soldier. I sponged olive ink onto the soldier and the box he is setting on. I sponged Dutch blue ink under the soldier and around his shoulders. I layered the soldier onto Dutch blue card stock and then onto cocoa card stock. I then layered it onto the dessert sand card stock and turned it at an angle, I used foam tape to the top of the soldier so it has dimension. I showed it to Steve yesterday and he really likes them.

On the inside I am going to add a picture of Steve in his Blues,

because most of the family has not seen him in his uniform.

I have to get the pictures printed tomorrow, then they go into the mail.

Well when I went to get them printed out the computer couldn't find the picture on my disk then they only print them 4" x 6" and that won't fit in my envelopes so no pictures going out after all. Sorry.

Steve has served our country for 36 years. I am so proud of him, and proud that my Son and Son-In-Law have followed his lead.

Card class last Saturday in The Dalles.

We had a great time at class last Saturday, my Sister Shirley and two of her Granddaughters were there, my Niece Tarina was there, my Mother-In-Law was there along with an old friend Vera. We only had 3 ladies join is who live at flagstone. I added a book mark to the items we made, here it is. I used Sonoma level 2 paper pack x7143B and Sweet Moments Stamp set C1467 to make this. I also used Colonial white card stock and chocolate ink.

Then my Niece Tarina turned the images and layered them,

I made the one below similar to the one she made.

Here I use the same papers just turned the background paper over to reveal the purple, green and brown stripe and used Pansy Purple ink. I also embossed in clear over the Pansy Purple and sponged the edges of the colonial white CS.

Here is a close up of the two images.

This is the same book mark only Tarina added a snowflake to it,

and then she stamped the back. I just love how she can take my simple ideas and turn them in to works of art. She inspires me. She is so good at the vintage look. I need to start taking classes from her. You can see her website here meandmylittleideas.blogspot.com. She said she has been asked to do some Ustream videos, she already has several YouTube videos. I can't wait to see what she does, I will have to join.

After class, I came home to finish my Christmas cards and Steve's retirement invitations. I was greeted with my Christmas decorations put up and my kitchen was clean. I don't usually leave it a mess but I just had too many things to get done and well the dishes lost the battle. My dear Hubby said he asked the grandchildren to come and help him put up the tree and decorate. It was so sweet, and I didn't expect it at all. I love this kind of surprise.

Here are my Christmas cards. I started with White Daisy CS and Sky CS, I used Snowflakes D1480, I stamped the snowflakes in White Daisy pigment ink and let it dry, then stamped the silver and embossed it in Silver embossing powder. I the cut out two different snowflakes from the Art Philosophy Cricut Cartridge and stamped them in silver ink and embossed them in Rainbow crystals embossing powder. They really sparkle. I added foam tape to the smaller one before layering it onto the larger snowflake.

Here I tried my hand at stamping and embossing on acetate.

I kind of like it, but it was difficult to not melt the acetate, yet melt the embossing powder.

I got them all in the mail today.

Well I have to finish the invitations as I have the grandchildren tomorrow and lots of things to do.

Card Class in The Dalles this Saturday!

Wow where has the month gone? It has been busy around here with my bazaars and then My MIL was here for 11 days and then we had the Christmas party at the Base. I have been working on my Christmas cards and I have been working on Steve's retirement Invitations, all of which need to go in the mail by Monday. Of course I had to get sick before I could get my cards ready for class this Saturday, but I finally got them made and in the mail today. Here they are, let me know what yo think. Sorry they are a little blurry, I am still a little shaky.

I have made it 13 months so far on my Diet and have lost 34 lbs. Even better than all the weight loss has been the loss of pain. My Dr. told me that you have to follow the diet 90% for it to work, so read the ingredients on every package.

I still get to have pasta, I buy Brown Rice Pasta and use it like I would regular pasta. You can get brown rice crackers and brown rice tortillas. Look in the health food section (I go to Fred Meyer) the tortillas are in the freezer.

If you try this diet please let me know how it works for you.

Today was the last Bazaar for the season for me.

They put me on the stage between two Christmas trees. I took this pic with my phone on Panorama and it makes it look like it is on a corner but it was not, it was two tables end to end in a straight line. I think I will post most of the items that I have left on Etsy for the winter and see if they sell.

Now I get to spend the next 22 days getting ready for my next card class and Christmas.

Cards for next Saturdays card class in The Dalles.

This card is made with Christmas Love D1492 and SU's Square Lattice and Petals-A-Plenty embossing folders. I also used their Eyelet border punch. Cranberry, Daisy White and Garden green. Cranberry Velvet ribbon.

Sorry this one is so blurry I didn't realize it till now. I made this card and the one below, using the Cricut Art Philosophy cartridge and cut a Circle card, a Scallop and the buckle, I punched the buttons with a 1/2" circle punch and used the SU Round tab punch

I made a cut file for the base of this card using the SU Fancy label punch and welded it together. I cut it at 4.25" X 11". Punched the Eyes using a 1/2" circle punch and the mouth with a 1/4" hole punch. I cut the nose with the Cricut Art Philosophy cartridge using the banner cut at 1/2". The Snowflake is also from the Art Philosophy cartridge and I cut it at 1" and added a large sparkle. The SU's Modern Label punch and SU's Word window punch and stamped Happy Holidays from Christmas Love D1492. The Ribbon is SU.

My Sister-in-law ordered 20 Christmas cards from me last month at my card class and here they are in their cute little Card pouch.

I have been so busy lately.

October is always a very busy month for me, as I have all 4 of my Grandchildren's and my Daughter's birthdays to celebrate. I missed the Grandchildren's Birthday party on October 29th. This was the first birthday party that I have missed in 13 years, and it is because my sweet Husband was in Las Vegas and invited me to come and spend a few days with him. I was so excited, but it really puts a rush on me to get all my crafts done for the Bazaars. The weather was between 78 and 82 the whole time I was there and beautiful, unlike here cold.

My Bazaars started on November 5th. I was at the Beavercreek Elementary School on S. Yeomen Rd in Beavercreek, OR on Saturday the 5th. I met a lot of really nice people who are interested in classes so I am getting ready to start holding classes at my house soon. Then on Saturday November 12th I will be at Carus Elementary School and on December 3rd I will be at a Bazaar for the Beavercreek Lions. I hope you will come by and say hi and see what I have been working on.

Card Class in The Dalles this Saturday!

Wow things have been crazy here lately. We have 5 birthdays to celebrate in October and that is just my Daughter and Grandchildren. There are a whole lot more if I count the rest of the family and friends. I am behind on posting pictures for those. We celebrated Zack, Hailey and Dawn's birthday's on Friday the 14th because Steve was leaving on the 16th for 3 weeks. Then Saturday was Family day at the Base. Dawn's Birthday was on Sunday the 16th so 8 of us celebrated at Red Robin. The waiter was very funny and asked Dawn if she wanted to stand on her chair, while they sang to her. She said no. So then he told her to raise her spoon high like the Statue of Liberty and she barely raised it above her shoulder, when he commented on how high she raised it she attempted to bonk him on the nose with it. It was funny. She hates to have the restaurants sing to her but she played along this time.

I finally got time to sit and make my cards for class, here they are.

I made this Mummy card for Halloween. I used my air art gun and a Chocolate marker and spritzed the card base then layered 4 - 1" strips on top, tucking the eyes in under the top two.

I random stamped the leaves on a 12 X 12 and cut it down to 3" X 4" and used the Weathered wood embossing folder on the Summer sun CS. The oval punches are Stampin' Up

I stamped and embossed then cut out the pumpkins and added the foam tape to the back. I used a Cuttle bug embossing folder for the Sunset CS.

I found this card in the Idea Book and it was so simple, I had to make it for class. I stamped the trees in New England Ivy ink on New England Ivy CS. The Deer is from the Bundled Buddies stamp set.

I punched out 2" scallop circles and embossed them with a Stampin' Up embossing folder then folded 1/4th of it over and glued it to another and added the ribbon. It holds Hershey Nuggets, like a purse. I am going to give these to all the people who attend my class on Saturday.

Card boxes for my Card Classes.

I went to my friend Teri's and we played with ideas for the boxes that I am going to give to each person who signs up for my card classes. We used the Dreamin level 2 paper pack, Art Philosophy Cricut Cartridge, Elmer's glue, Modpodge, Acrylic paints and Sunset, Pacifica, Honey and Dessert Sand Ink. We also used Harvest Happiness C1463, Unscripted C1465, The Present D1436 and Treasures D1375 which is retired. We tried a new technique which my Niece Tarina used on my Altered clipboard that she gave me. It is called Faux Crackle, you paint the Elmer's glue on then paint on the acrylic paint and heat set. As the paint drys the glue separates and makes the crackle affect. This is the box I altered. The boxes are white when you order them, so we painted them blue and then we decided where we wanted to have the Faux Crackle, I wanted mine on the bottom right corner. I painted the corner with the glue then with a mustard color of acrylic paint, heat dried it and then I tried to do 2 layers of the Faux Crackle to show the blue and the mustard, that didn't work out so well so Teri held the heat gun while I took a stylus tool and scraped the paint to show the blue again. I then took the Dessert Sand ink pad and rubbed it all over the box, including on the faux crackle. We then decided what piece of paper we wanted to use and cut it to size, tore the edge and curled it up then distressed the edges and glued it onto the front of the box.

Then we decided what paper we wanted on the front of the box and then the ends and back. We cut, stamped and distressed the papers then glued them on to the box.

I made several Daisy flowers on the Cricut in different colors and sizes then I cut a 3D daisy, set at 1" out of chocolate and curled it up really tight to make the center of the daisy to make it look like a One Eyed Susan.

Here is a close up of the smallest one.

I also cut a 3D daisy flower from Sunset and curled it up to make the flower that I used on the top of the box. I cut the banner at 1" and stamped the word CARDS with a SU stamp set. I don't know the name of it, but will find out if you want to know, just leave me a comment. Then distressed the edges of the banner and curled it with the handle of the stylus til I had it just the way I wanted it. Before we glued the flower and baner down I stamped the leaves and swirly spray on the top of the box where they would show from under the flower.

You can see in this picture where the banner is raised in the middle.

Once I was done gluing everything down where I wanted it I started on the inside of the box. I cut pieces to fit the lid so that when I open the box up it won't bubble or buckle up in the creases. We then took Mod Podge and painted the entire box before we added the flower and banner. After the box dried I glued the flower and banner on then painted the flower with Mod Podge and used it to glue the banner down.

This is how Teri's box turned out, she even stamped sentiments on her box. I love how her Faux Crackle turned out. This giant wish flower from the Treasures Stamp set is awesome too. Teri stamped smaller wish flowers inside the giant one with Sunset and Honey inks. She also used a brad in the large flower center.

We worked 2 evenings on these boxes and finally finished them last night. Teri and I have so much fun working on projects together. We laugh, we joke and we get some really good ideas when we're together.

We went to Steve's Mom's on Saturday.

We went to Dufur to visit family. The weather was beautiful, sunny and warm just perfect for getting all of us together. Here is a picture of Joan (Mom) and her Sister Norma. Aunt Norma retired from Safeway yesterday so we had to celebrate that. Uncle Mike and Aunt Norma brought cousin Julie and her 2 Daughters and a friend of theirs.

We had a great time. Dianne and John were there, here is a pick of them when some of us walked down to the Pastime for a drink.

Alex and Mariah were there too.

Mariah brought her friend Mr Bacon Jr. II,
that is what she calls her Dinosaur that is drinking her Jager Bomb.

Mr Bacon Jr. II had a lot to drink

Mr. Bacon ended up getting sick and having to go to bed early.

I hope he feels better.

Dan, Nancy, Sonny, Ruby and Henry were there too, Henry fell as I was trying to take the pic.

The Twins are 19 months, and as cute as can be.

I didn't take many pictures, and I should have taken a lot. Cindy and Randy were there with Janelle, and Jim, Karl and Kyle were there with Alex. Karl was dressed in Jim's Lineman gear, complete with hard hat. He is only 8 1/2 but as big as my grandson Jordan, who is 13. It's all those German genes he gets from his Mom's side. He is so darn cute. Most of the day the guys were playing bad mitten just on the other side of the lattice behind Miss Ruby.

We bought a frame with 8 places for pictures and I picked out some really nice pictures of our trip and put them in the frame and gave it to her Yesterday while we were there. She recognized them as being from our trip and said she had a wonderful time. I am so glad she enjoyed it, we did too. We have already been talking about doing it again only taking more time to see everything.

Birthdays.

2, to be exact, Jordan turned 13 and Mary turned 9 today. They are growing up so fast.

I made some cards last night for them. Here they are;

I made this card last night using my Art Philosophy Cricut cartridge, I cut the roses and the scallop circle card then cut an extra scallop circle to make it an easel card so she can display it. I used Sweet Leaf CS and Elemental level 2 Paper Packet. Again I used my favorite punches, Embossed Oak leaf, Pine bow, SU's Fancy Label punch and 2 sizes of daisy's. I also used Sweet leaf ribbon and I popped the label up on foam tape to help hold the card front up.

I made the black and blue game controller for Jordan and he likes it. I have the Father's Day Cricut cartridge but it doesn't cut the card shape to make these, so I created my own cut file that looks like this. I figured that the boys would appreciate a game controller more than a fooffy card. Zack's birthday is coming up, so I made his at the same time.

Miss Hailey's birthday isn't till the end of the month and she told me the other day, when she saw the Christmas card with the roses on it, that she wanted a card with the same roses for her birthday, so here it is. Her favorite color is purple, like mine so I made Gypsy (purple) and White Daisy roses.

I cut out several flowers in different colors, so I made this card for my friend Teri, who's birthday is also today.

I have been working on my stamp room and I think I have it set up the way I want it, so now I can start working on some of those scrapbook pages from our vacation and from Steve's incentive flight, oh ya and the birthday party, that is coming up. I also have to make a card for my Daughter's birthday on the 16th of this month, and it's bazaar time again.

Tutorial for the Christmas card with roses.

Thank you all for checking out my card for the Operation Write Home Blog Hop, and leaving me all those wonderful comments. I told you I would have the recipe for the card today and so here it is in the form of a tutorial.

I used White Daisy CS, Cranberry CS and New England Ivy CS. I used Close To My Heart's Art Philosophy Cricut Cartridge to make the Roses and Pine cones. I used McGill's Pine Bow punch along with Oriental Trading Co.'s Oak leaf embossing punch.

First I cut 3-3" roses from the White Daisy CS then I cut 3-2.5" Chrysanthemum both are on page 69 in the book and are under the font section. On the Key pad it shows the half circle banner and the Heart it is the second button from the end.

Once I remove them from the mat I curl them with my thumb nail along the bottom edge.

It will look like this.

Then I curl it up tighter and then let it go to unroll a little.

I add Liquid Glass to the base.

Then hold it down till the Liquid glass starts to dry. Then I add a sparkle to the center and some Glitz Stardust to the edges and set aside. If you are making cards for Operation Write Home PLEASE DO NOT use glitter of any kind as it can cause harm to our hero's.

I do the same with the New England Ivy Chrysanthemum.

I don't let this one go, I keep it nice and tight.

I hold it in my hand till the Liquid Glass starts to dry.

While the rose and Chrysanthemum/Pine Cone dries I emboss the Cranberry CS with the Embossing folder from Stampin' Up it is called Petals-a-plenty and is $7.95 + shipping. If you want one of these I will take orders for my Friend Teri, who is a Stampin' Up Demonstrator, (she doesn't have a website) just email me with your information, I take Paypal or Propay.

This is a Stampin' Up Fancy label punch I stamped the words at one end,

because I want to tuck it in under some of the greenery.

I then sponged the edges with New England Ivy Ink.

I sponged the main card base with New England Ivy Ink also.

Now you just have to assemble the card. I use Liquid Glass to adhere all the pieces,

because I don't want them to come off.

Recipe for the Winter Wonderland Card.

Daisy White CS
Sky CS
CTMH's Art Philosophy Cricut cartridge
Silver Embossing powder
VersaMark Ink
Sky Ink
White Daisy Ink
Sparkles
Foam tape

I cut the 2 snow flakes from the White Daisy CS using the Art Philosophy Cricut Cartridge and stamped them with the coordinating stamps from the D1480 Snowflakes stamp set. I sponged the edges of each snowflake and layered them together with the foam tape and added the sparkles. Then I randomly stamped the 3 different snowflakes in White Daisy Ink on the Sky CS. I took the large outline snowflake stamp and inked it with VersaMark and stamped over the large White Daisy snowflake, then embossed it with silver embossing powder. I took the small snowflake stamp and stamped it in Versamark over one of the medium sized White Daisy snowflake images and embossed it in silver embossing also. I stamped the words in Versamark and embossed them with the silver embossing powder too. I took the White Daisy card base and sponged Sky Ink on the edges and assembled the card and added the cut out Snowflakes. You can order all the products here on my website.

Operation Write Home Blog Hop

I am so excited to be part of this blog hop I believe it is so important that we let our service men and women know how much we care. I am a proud Military wife of 30 years, in that time my husband has been deployed many times. My Son and Son-In-Law are also military and have been deployed several times also. I have many other family and close friends who are deployed at this time.

I added glitter to the tips of the roses but you can't see it, I also added a sparkle in the center of the roses. The roses and pine cones are made with the Close To My Heart Art Philosophy Cricut Cartridge.

Holiday card.

Operation Write Home's Blog Hop Starts Saturday October 1st. and today I was working on some cards to post for the hop. Here is the card that I did first.

I used the Close To My Heart Art Philosophy Cricut Cartridge to cut out the 2 snowflakes and then stamped them with Sky ink using the D 1480 Snowflakes stamp set that coordinates with the cartridge. I stamped the sky background with White Daisy and then in VersaMark and embossed with silver embossing powder. I added Bitty sparkles to the large snowflake and a large sparkle to the smaller snowflake. I also distressed the edges of both snowflakes then popped up the smaller one with a foam square. I added this card to Fab's Big Christmas card challenge you should check it out.

I did make 40 crowns and tiara's for the preschool today. These are from the Indy Art Cartridge.

Now I am just waiting for the list of names so I can personalize them.

I would love to show you the next card that I made, but that will have to wait till Saturday. I will tell you that I used the Art Philosophy cartridge with the second card too, so you will have to come back Saturday and see what I have created for the blog hop. I meant to get more done by now, since I have almost 500 pictures that I need to scrapbook. I have been a little busy this last couple weeks though. My Daughter and her family moved out weekend before last and so I have been rearranging my stamp room trying to get organized so I can get creative and have room to move. It has been different with out all of them here in the evening, I still get to see them everyday though. The kids still go to the same school and ride the bus here everyday. Dawn and Charlie are taking 12 credit hours each so I watch them till they can pick them up about 6:00 pm. They had only been in their home 2 days when the kids wanted to know when they could have a sleepover with Grandma. Both the girls gave me a big hug tonight before they left and Dawn had to tell them to let go after about 5 minutes so she could take them home.

A Present!

I went to my Card Class in The Dalles, OR yesterday and my Niece Tarina was there, she helps me with the ladies. She surprised me with this GORGEOUS Altered Clip Board.

She is so talented and I am so honored to have one of her creations. I added this picture because I thought is went perfect with the colors. It also happens to be a favorite pic of mine. Yes I was a true red head but my back surgery in 1997 changed all that, now I have a beautiful Blonde color. This pic was taken in 1989.

Steve's Incentive Flight.

My Dear Hubby has been in the Air National Guard for 33+ years and is getting ready to retire. He finally got an Incentive ride in an F-15 Eagle Fighter Jet. on Wednesday, Sept 21, 2011 at 11:00am.. They do what they call a "Gate Climb", that is where the pilot gets the Jet just far enough off the runway that when they turn straight up to the sky that the tail doesn't hit the runway and they keep it that way till they hit 15,000 feet, then they level out. The pilot took Steve over our house and then to Newport and up to Astoria and was supposed to come back to Portland and land. However the jet that took off after Steve's blew a tire and left debris over 1500 feet of the runway so Steve's Jet was diverted to McChord AFB in Tacoma, WA. and so was the wounded jet. They had to tow the wounded jet off the runway there before Steve and his pilot were able to return home. I took some pics of Steve in his flight suit and helmet and in the seat of the jet along with a video of the take off.

I almost forgot about Flat Stanley, (In the plastic bag that Pyro is holding) he rode up front with "Pyro". You can follow Flat Stanley on his adventures Here and check out his website Here

While the others were getting Steve in the seat, "Pyro" was telling the grandchildren that he had only flown twice before, but they didn't have an engine, they were gliders. But he had his flight exam earlier and he passed, so he thinks he's good to go. Zack (In the striped shirt closest to the camera) seemed worried so I stepped closer and asked him if he really thought that the Military would really let him take Grandpa up if he didn't qualify. When we got back to the office I took Zack over to the board with all the pilots pictures and showed him that "Pyro" is also a pilot for American Airlines and has logged 2800 hours. He felt much better. He said "You mean he was lying to us?"

Jeff , standing by the ladder, drove us of to the runway where we could see the take off up close.

Buzz, Neil, Brian and Floyd (all good friends who work with Steve) were all on the jet helping Steve get strapped in and ready.

This was such an AWESOME day. Steve was so excited, and if you know Steve he doesn't show his emotions much, but Wednesday was different. I was so excited for him too.

I think I will work on organizing my stamp room tomorrow and see if I can get some of these pages at least started.

Next Saturday's Card Class in The Dalles.

Yes you have seen these cards before, I had to postpone last month's class due to my Son-In-Law's Mother loosing her battle with cancer. We will miss her dearly.

This first card is made using the New Roxie paper from the Autumn/Winter 2011 Idea Book.

I also used Love Life D1482. I was supposed to use the new Just Blooms Flutter paper shapes, but I forgot to order them so I made my own. I used Contriban, SU French Script background stamp and punched them with a McGill Punch.

This card is made using The Present D1436 and the new Elemental paper. Creme Brulee, Garden Green and Dessert Sand CS. The leaf is inked with olive and stamped off then kissed with Brown Bag.

I made this card with the new Dreamin' paper and the new Unscripted C1465 and Harvest Happiness C1463, with Creme Brulee, Chocolate and Goldrush ink. Chocolate and Bamboo CS. I cut the rose out of Creme Brulee from our new Art Philosophy Cricut Cartridge.

I made this card using The Present D1465 also. I cut the flowers and leaves out on the Cricut from the Art Philosophy Cricut Cartridge and stamped them with the coordinating flowers from Hooray Bouquet D1491. I used the edge of the flower stamp to add the flowers to the vine and added brads. I used Contriban here too. I embossed the Creme Brulee with SU's Crosshatch embossing folder.

We got up early this morning and headed for home. We took Mom home to Dufur and unloaded almost all of her stuff. Then it was off to Portland and finally HOME!!! As I made dinner, Steve unloaded the car and after we ate I went looking for the little things I brought home for my monkeys and found a few things that we had forgotten to get out that was Mom's. I will see her in a couple weeks, so no big deal.

This trip has been Truly AMAZING!!! I couldn't have asked for more.

Mtn. Home, ID

We left West Yellowstone, MT this morning and headed toward home. but first we topped at the Visitors Center and went through their museum and watched a film on the earthquake in the 50's. Sorry I don't remember the exact date, I was preoccupied at the time. here are a few pictures I took there.

They had a large collection of Flys for fishing and I have a neighbor who is 13, and he makes fly earrings, I bought a really cute pair from him this summer.

Here someone has turned an old treadle sewing machine into a fly tying machine.

More fly's in the museum collection.

Below this frame of fly's is a sign that says Early Fly's for sale, but doesn't give a price.

This is the bridge we had to cross to get into Twin Falls, ID. They were having some kind of festival today and we stopped to use the restrooms and decided to stretch our legs a little and I took these pictures of the golf course on the Island below.

While at the Visitors Center we looked at all the stuff they had for sale and I found this really cute bracelet. I asked for the person's name who made it but the young lady volunteering there didn't know who made them or hoe to find out so I can't tell you who made it. I believe it is re-purposed costume Jewelry. Of course you know what is going through my head.

So we left Twin Falls, ID and headed for Mtn. Home, ID. We found the AFB and got a room. I am so amazed by the size of the rooms, it is just unbelievable. This room is like a 2 bedroom apt. complete with washer and dryer in the unit. The only thing it is missing is food in the cabinets. There are 3 TV's, 1 queen bed, twin beds and a hide-a-bed in the living room. I am getting where I don't want to stay in a regular hotel. Here are some pictures.

Straight ahead is the dinning room, with 6 chairs, and the Washer and Dryer.

At the end of the living room is the bedroom with twin beds.

This bedroom has 2 dressers and a TV and walk-in closet.

On the other side of the sink is the Coffee maker and refrigerator. The other side of the kitchen has a long counter top and lots of cabinets.

This is the other bedroom, Queen bed, 2 dressers.

This trip has truly been amazing and I am so glad we shared it with Mom.

I think she has enjoyed it as much as we have.

I am sure she has to be as tired as I am and ready for her own bed again.

When we get Mom home tomorrow, she will get to go to her new little house in Dufur where her other children have been working hard to get it ready for her return.

I get to go through almost 500 pictures and print out the ones I think she would like to have and put them in an album for her. We might even frame some for her to hang on her walls.

I hope you check back soon to see what else I am up too, it could be anything since all the grandchildren are in school now. Hailey is only in school til noon every day, but it is every day, not just three days a week. Dawn will be going back to school also, so my mornings will be open for want ever I want to do. Hopefully I can get several pages done on our trip then I can get tarted on our Alaska trip we took 5 years ago, yes it has been 5 years. I know!, I know! I should have had them done already. Not only that, but I can start my classes back up in The Dalles again.

Yellowstone!

Today we got up and headed to Coty, WY and on to Yellowstone. We saw a lot of incredible sites on the way, like these rocks.

I think this one looks like it has a Kokopelli guy on top.

Then we went through the entrance of the park.

There was a fire in the park but we don't know how big we could just see the smoke.

We saw Buffalo. About 30, the first group then we saw a huge male off by himself and down the road we saw about 20 more then another single male.

Here Mom and Steve are watching Old Faithful erupt.

After we left the Visitors Information area we headed out of the park we saw some Elk, I didn't get pictures of them because my camera battery died after taking the one of Mom and Steve watching old Faithful. My Cell battery had died before we got to go see Old Faithful.

Tonight we are staying in the town of West Yellowstone, MT.

Tomorrow we will head west toward home.

Devil's Tower and Westward bound.

It was so hot in our room last night that we opened all the windows to cool the place off, it didn't get cool till about 5:00am. This morning we woke up at 6:45 by a Harley driving by our room on his way to work, then the school bus came by at 7:00am, and the road construction crew started just as the bus pulled out. And then Revelee of course was sounded at 7:30am so we figured it was time to get up and get started on our way. We first drove to Sturgis and then on to the Devil's Tower, here are some pictures of our day.

We met a lady today while at the Devils Tower, she has a Welsh Corgi who has Lou Gehrig's disease, he is 13 years old and they have a wheel chair for him. She said he is very Friendly and has accepted his disability like a champ. I suggested that she take him to see if he could become a service dog. I think he could inspire people with disabilities especially those who have recently become disabled. I got her email so we can keep in touch. I love meeting new friends where ever we go.

This is a black tailed Prairie Dog. They were everywhere, popping up from little holes.

I don't know what the sculpture is or who made it but I thought it was interesting.

As we were approaching Hwy 14 we saw these Long Horned Bulls and didn't notice until tonight when I put the pictures on my computer that the one closest to us was very thin,

I was saddened to see how bad he looks.

We also saw a wonderful sunset again tonight and I tried to capture it, but it was difficult. The sun had a ring around it that was almost rainbow like. Like when the moon gets the ring around it. I had never seen anything like this. Here are the pictures.

Sorry about the bugs on the windshield, Steve couldn't pull over for me to take the pictures.

Tonight we decided to stay at Buffalo, WY, for the night and get an early start again tomorrow.

Crazy Horse and Mt Rushmore in the same day.

We got up early this morning and drove to Sturgis and then to Rapid City. We stopped at Ellsworth AFB to see if they had a room available for us to stay tonight and they did. It was almost full but we took the room with 1 queen bed and a pull out couch, the lady at the desk made it sound like it was tiny. So we drove to the building and found our room, it isn't quite a large as the room in Cheyenne, but it has a bedroom, a full kitchen, a living room and breakfast bar with 5 stools. This is amazing. It has helped make this trip comfortable and memorable. After we found our room we headed out to see Crazy Horse and all they have to offer. Here are some pictures.

You can see the white paint where they are marking the ear and the eye which will be 16 feet wide.

We made it to Deadwood, SD

we had trouble with our brakes last night so steve changed them this morning which put us behind schedule getting out of cheyenne. we drove till we got to deadwood, sd. tomorow we get to go to mt. rushmore and crazy horse if we can. sorry I dont have pictures, i am posting from my phone. hopefully I will have pictures to post tomorrow.

Denver Congestion! Yuck!!!

We left Grand Junction, CO about 9:00 am this morning and drove toward Denver, CO. We got just passed Vail and the traffic almost stopped. We crawled for about 20 miles, it took over 1.5 hours to go those miles, needless to say the sun was out and hot. No shade to crawl into, so yes I have a sun burn. Mom got a little red too. We stopped at Denver to eat lunch at 2:00pm then got back on the road and drove to Cheyenne WY. where we are staying at the F.E. Warren, AFB. Steve asked for a room with two beds and we got a complete house. This is by far the best place we have stayed on our trip, make that any trip. The buildings are from 1867( This base has quite the History it's self.) and when we walked up the stairs I wasn't sure what we were getting into.

Steve opened the door to a complete living room, 2 love seats, a coffee table, a chair and ottoman, a desk and TV with DVD player sitting on an antique credenza and three lamps.

You walk around the corner to the dining room table and 4 chairs

and strait into one bedroom with twin beds.

Turn the corner and you have the full complete Kitchen(except for Food) on the left

and a bedroom with full sized bed on the right. Strait ahead is the bathroom.

This kitchen has a stove, full sized refrigerator, a Microwave and dishes, pans and bowls just about anything you would need to cook. This is almost the size of our house. Sorry the pictures are dark, Mom was already sleeping and I didn't want to disturb her with the lights.

After we brought our luggage in Steve took us to Red Lobster for dinner to celebrate our 30 Th Anniversary today. It was wonderful, The waiter was very nice and helpful, making sure to take notes about my diet so I don't get sick. That is always nice when you have several restrictions. I was good and ordered the Salmon with steamed Broccoli and a garden salad. I really wanted the lobster and shrimp but I refrained. Steve had a steak and shrimp scampi and Mom had Shrimp Bruschetta.

Tomorrow we are off to Rapid City and Mt Rushmore.

Monument Valley and Arches National Park.

Today we drove through Monument Valley, and saw some wonderful sites. Here are a few pictures. I don't know all the names of the rocks but I will share them as soon as I find out. If you know the names, please leave me a comment.

After we left the park we drove to Grand Junction, CO. where we are going to stay tonight and then we plan to drive to Laramie, WY. where we will celebrate our 30th anniversary.

I hope we can find a nice place for dinner.

Zion National Park and The Grand Canyon!!!

Yesterday we went through the Zion National Park and saw some wonderful sights.

Here are a few pictures of our trip.

It was so beautiful and we spent so much time there that we drove to Jacobs Lake near the turn off for The Grand Canyon but it was getting late and we wanted to make sure we could see all of the sights, so we went to see this little place called the Cliff Dwellers and this is what we found. A rock house that was built around one of the giant rocks that had fallen from the giant rock wall behind. This is the front, and it even has a covered patio.

This is the back side, the rock acts as the roof.

Watch your head the ceiling is a little low.

I don't know what this was maybe a place to keep food cold or maybe a fire place.

One of the Navajo ladies was set up to sell her hand made jewelry just behind this rock and she said this rock is an Ice Cream cone. It really does resemble one. Steve thinks it looks like Taz from where he took the picture.

Mom bought a beautiful handmade Turquoise necklace from the lady.

We drove back to Kanab, UT for the night and got up early to go to the Grand Canyon.

Well we finally made it to the Grand Canyon today and I am so glad we waited, the temp was a lot cooler this morning when we started out. When we first got through the entrance we saw the magnificent Beefalo. This herd is not native to the park but migrated here from the northeastern edge.

Look at the baby, there were several.

This guy was massive.

Then about a mile in we saw wild Turkeys.

2 Hens had about babies and half were crossing the road in front of us.

This was a look out above the Angels Window, Mom didn't want to go at first but then decided she wouldn't be getting the whole experience if she didn't, so I made sure to get a picture.

This is called The Angels Window.

This is the Lodge. While at the gift shop I met a family from Ohio who also likes to scrapbook.

I took over 100 photos today, so I should have plenty to scrapbook. Tomorrow we drive through Monument Valley and see some more awesome sites. Hopefully I will have WiFi available to post again.

I just have to share this blog with you. My Niece is so creative it is amazing what she comes up with, out of things that I would never imagine using. Me and My Little Ideas. She has her own YouTube channel too. Check out her blog to see how she made this Vintage Dress Form. I really need to spend some time with her when I get home and see if any of that creativity will rub off onto me.

Vacation update.

I finally have WiFi so I can update our trip. Here are some pictures of the smoke from the fire that sent us on a detour. Hwy 197 was closed just before Maupin so we had to find another way to get to Madras.

Here you can see a little of the sky without the smoke.

The smoke just kept getting thicker as we went along.

We were starting to wonder if we were going to be detoured again.

Finally made it to Madras where Steve's Brother lives but he wasn't home.

So we visited with His wife Tammy and son Gabe. Steve and I don't get to see them very often and it is amazing how fast the little ones grow.

Then we were off to The High Desert Museum.

These bronze sculptures are very beautiful.

As part of the outdoor Museum, they took us back to 1904 and Steve helped the carpenter who was working on his Adirondack Chair.

Steve is sitting on the Shaving horse shaving the boards to make them smooth.

Then we went into the real working sawmil from the 1900's.

If you ever get the chance to go to The High Desert Museum you should go, we only planned on being there about an hour, but ended up being there over three hours and we didn't even see it all. It is Awesome!!!

After we left the High Desert Museum, we ran into another issue on the way. A Semi-truck had wrecked and was laying on it's side, luckily it was off the road and he looked like he was hurt but going to be ok. From there we drove to Alturas, CA., we stayed the night and then on to Reno NV. We stopped at Hawthorn, NV. to see their Museum here are some pictures. They had a large selection of Taxidermy animals, including a Pelican, an Antelope,

Pheasants, a Porcupine and a Badger.

Then on to Reno, NV., where we played a few slots and when we got up the next morning we tried to go to Vegas, but they had road construction in a couple places and we ended up staying at Beatty, NV.

We finally made it to Vegas yesterday, it was 106 degrees. Even Mom took off her sweater. We took Mom to see the Laser light show in old town and had our picture taken with Bret Michaels and Tupac (ok they were look alikes, but it was fun anyway) I will have to post the picture later when I can figure out how to get it out of Steve's phone. Yeah, I had to call James, but I got the picture. Then we went to the Strip and walked for what seemed like for ever, among a million people.

Tonight we took Mom to see Dirk Aurthur's Wild Magic Show , we had a nice time

and I could tell by the way Mom laughed and clapped that she enjoyed it too.

That is all she talked about all the way back to our room.

Tomorrow we are off to see the Grand Canyon. I don't know if we will stay where I can get WiFi again or not so it might be a few days till I can update you on our trip. We are really enjoying having Mom on this trip, I am so glad she wanted to come with us.

Vacation update.

Well we had a little detour this morning, there was a fire that closed Hwy 197 at Maupin so we had to weave our way around the back roads to get to Madras and then on our way. I took lots of pictures, but I left the camera in the car so I will add pics tomorrow.

We had a great time today. We went to The High Desert Museum outside of Bend, OR and spent about 4 hours there, it was very interesting and they had a lot of displays to look at, including a working sawmill from the 1800's.

We drove to Chiloquin and stopped at a yard sale, they had a bicycle rickshaw there and I tried to get Steve to buy it for Mom so that when we get back home she can ride around Dufur giving people a personal tour. Mom was going along with the idea, but Steve said we didn't have room to haul it on our trip. We also found a GIANT potato masher, the handle was about 2 feet long and the masher part was about 6"s square, I didn't buy it cause I didn't know where we would put it.

We passed a few signs on the way that said "Chain-up Area", but Steve wouldn't let me chain him up.

We ended up in Alturas, California and are calling it a night.

Going on Vacation!!!

I am so excited, we are going on vacation to South Dakota tomorrow to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary. We are taking my Mother-In-Law with us on this trip, I think she will enjoy it, I just hope we don't wear her out, to badly. I hope I get lots of pics so I can Scrapbook the trip. We are driving through Nevada to gamble a little, Northern Arizona to see more of the Grand Canyon and into Southern Utah to see Monument Valley, then onto South Dakota to see Mt Rushmore and Crazy Horse and all the other sites there are to see. I want to walk around the base of the Devil's Tower, I think that will be interesting.

Our last long trip was to Juneau Alaska for our 25th, which I still have not started the scrapbook for yet. The year before we drove to Albuquerque, NM. for our Nephew's wedding. The year before that we flew out to Georgia and drove back home with our son after he graduated from Tech School. They were all awesome trips. I did make a couple pages of our trip home from Georgia, they were on the little bit of the Grand Canyon that we got to see. That is why I want to see more of the Grand Canyon on this trip.

I will try to post some of our trip while we are on Vacation, but I can't promise I will post everyday. I still have packing to do tomorrow before we can leave so I better get to bed.

This first card is made using the New Rosie paper from the Autumn/Winter 2011 Idea Book.

This card is made using The Present D1436 and the new Elemental paper. Creme Brulee, Garden Green and Dessert Sand CS. The leaf is inked with olive and stamped off then kissed with Brown Bag.

I hope the ladies like the cards we will be making. I sure do. Thanks Tarina for helping me choose.

Ann left me a nice comment on the roses I made, and so I took a look at her blog and joined it of coarse. While looking I found this handy little Gadget called My Create, Ink. Color Lab. You can use it to help you find just the right colors for any project you are working on. They have CTMH, SU, Copic and Feel free to copy it to your blog too, if you wish. My new Art Philosophy Cricut Cartridge has arrived.

I just received my order and was so excited to get to play, and play I did. I made some of the 3-D flowers in different sizes using the new Roxie paper.

I cut these any where from 2" to 6".

These I cut at 2" and 4".

I cut this one at 5".

I cut these at 2" and 3".

This one I cut at 6" and I thought it would be larger. It is large and stands up about 1 1/4". I have not glued them down yet, I still want to play with them a little to see if I can make them look more real. Tell me what you think.

I love this new Roxie paper, I can see so many things made with it.
