Guest room update.

Well I finally painted the guest room on Sunday.  When we moved in 18 years ago we painted my Son's room Robin's Egg blue.  He moved out in November, so we could use this room as a guest room for when my MIL stayed with us.

I choose Gobi and Rejuvenate by Behr.   Gobi is the color of sand and Rejuvenate is a green color.
I painted two walls with Gobi, the one to the left as you enter the room.
I painted the other two walls with the Rejuvenate.
I bought tan curtains for the window.
Yes I should have ironed them, but I was in a hurry to get it done,
as I had a guest on the way.
I really like how the room turned out.

Now I can work on my Stamp room and get ready to start getting creative.

St. Baldricks Foundation

I am so proud of my Grandson Zack.  My SIL took the family to Oaks Park on Saturday because they were Honoring the Military Families.  While at the park they saw that St. Baldricks was shaving heads to help kids fight cancer.  Zack decided he would like to help so he had his head shaved.  He knew he would be teased at school but he decided the cause was worth being teased.  He has such a big heart.

Here he is with his shaved head, and his new shirt.
If you click on the link below it will take you to his St Baldricks Participant page where you can donate and help Zack help kids fight cancer.  He is trying to help raise $1000.00, currently he has $35.00.

Thank you in advance for donating to a great cause.

An update on my new floor and pics from My Family Reunion in March.

I have finally put everything back where I want or had it.  I decided it was a good time to clean out the china cabinets and thin what was in them.  There was way too much in both of them.  That is why it took me so long to get these pictures taken and posted.  Did I mention that I love my new floors.  They are so nice and easy to clean and really finish the rooms.  Here are the pics.
Remember the old flooring with the broken tile entryway.
This is just to show the trim around to edges.  We had the old rubber mop board before.
Here I was standing in my Living room looking at my front door.  No my chairs don't match anymore.
But that is what happens when you use them a lot.
Here I am standing in front of the hall closet looking into my messy Kitchen.

I painted two walls a lighter blue and the wall behind the big china cabinet a darker blue.
It really sets off the room.

I decided to hang the Lithograph of the F-15 that the Base gave Steve when he retired, above the small china cabinet.  I put the rest of the pictures back where I had them.

Here are the Pics from My Family Reunion in March.  There are only 3 of us who live in Oregon, the rest of us are scattered in Missouri and Ohio.  Here are the pics.

Left, Daniel, Mom, Shirley and my self.
(this picture is quite the incentive to loose more weight.)
My Family, minus my son.  I should photo shop him in.  My Mother is standing next to me, in the back.    Steve's Mom is standing in front of Steve and wanted to be in the picture too.  After all she has been part of "My Family" for 30 years.  We just lost her on May 19th, we will miss her dearly.
This is my Sister Shirley's Family.
This is my Brother Daniel's Family.
My Niece Tarina is the crafty one, she is on the far left.
Both her parents are very crafty people too.

This is the first time my Mother has been in Oregon in almost 30 years, and the first time she has seen any of our grandchildren in person.  Mom moved to California when my Daughter was 2 weeks old, then moved to Arkansas in 1994.  Mom is 80 now and rode the Greyhound bus out here by herself.  She wrote me a letter the other day and said that she was glad to see some of her kids and their off spring.  She was pleased to see how good the little kids were.   Well I am glad we passed inspection.

Now I need to scrapbook these pictures.

Yesterday, we lost a Dear, Kind and Wonderful Lady.

Joan Emilia Thomas
January 13, 1931 - May 19, 2012

Weep not for me though I am gone into that gentle night.

Grieve if you will, but not for long upon my soul's sweet flight.

I am at peace, my soul's at rest, there is no need for tears.

For with your love I was so blessed, for all those many years.

There is no pain, I suffer not, the fear now all is gone.

Put now these things out of your thoughts, in your memory I live on.

Remember not my fight for breath, remember not the strife.

Please do not dwell upon my death, but celebrate my life.

You will truly be missed.

I could not have dreamed of a better Mother-In-Law and role model.  Joan was a devout Catholic who never lost her way and always knew that Les and God would be waiting for her in Heaven.
I love you Mom.

Play time with "Dotty For You".

I finally took some time to play with the May, Close To My Heart Special "Dotty For You" paper pack.  If you spend $35.00 on CTMH product, you can purchase the Dotty For You paper pack for just $5.00.  Here are the cards I made using some of the Dotty For You papers.
I used SU bird Punch and French Script background stamp.
I also used some old CTMH flower stamp sets and the leaves from the new Friendship Bouquet S1205 which is May's Stamp of the Month. I uses Sweet Leaf, Smoothie, Sunflower and Dessert sand Inks.  I think I will send this one to my Mother for Mother's Day, a little late, but she will love it.
Here I used the Friendship Bouquet S1205 with a $50.00 purchase you can get this set for just $5.00.
I used Creme Brulee and White Daisy CS and stamped in Chocolate and Dessert Sand Ink. I used Sweet Leaf and Sunflower markers to color in the flowers and leaves.
I started with Smoothie CS and layered on the Green polka dots paper then took Dessert Sand ink and sponged around the Creme Brulee CS and layered on the Multi colored Butterflies paper after I sponged the dessert Sand ink around it's edges too.  I Stamped the Sentiment and small butterfly from A Tree A1124  in Chocolate Ink and cut it into a banner.  I used Foam tape to pop up one end and glued the other end down to the paper.

With this card I stamped the largest Sunflower from Friendship Bouquet s1205 on a 3.5 x 3.5 piece of Daisy White CS and colored it in with Sunflower and Chocolate markers.  I sponged the edges with Dessert sand ink and layered it onto the Green polka dot paper after I had sponged the edges of it with Dessert sand Ink also.  I then layered it onto the Creme Brulee CS that I had stamped with the SU French Script Background.

I made all of these cards on Saturday at the Crop Shannon and I held in Gladstone.  We hold a crop every month on a Saturday.  If you are interested in coming to one of our crops you can sign up at our Meetup group Portland Friends Scrap.  You will have to join Meetup and join our group, but it is free to join both.  We have such a great group of ladies who come.  No Drama, which is always nice.  We keep you informed on the group events and crops.  We will be starting classes soon so join now and check in often.

I know I promised pictures of the Dinning room after I put everything back where is went and I still have to do some of that.  I will try to get that done this week.  It has been a little crazy around here again.  My grandchildren have been sick and my MIL is not doing well.  Mary had to get a new cast as she threw up in her old one.  Yuck!!!  Steve started back at Boeing on Friday, the first two weeks he will work days and then he will start on Swing shift.  Like I said Crazy again, I don't think it will stop.  Soon Dawn will have our weekends full of events for her Ice Cream Trailer and since Charlie will be out of state with Tech school all Summer, I have offered to help with serving Ice Cream.  One of my favorite jobs in the world, even though I can not eat it myself anymore.

Until next time, Happy Scrapin',

Janice
